Yeah, with the monuments gone that history never existed! Right, this will make everything O.K.

Much of today's younger generation has already forgotten history, or only rembers what they want to remember, that which is to their advantage. Or they never bothered to learn it?

Same thing is happening all over America. In Charlottesville, VA, they are doing this to Lee Park because a black teenager was offended Mad We need to stand up with a united front and push back against the stupidity that these asshats are doling out! Go to city/town council meetings. Let your displeasure be heard. Don't fear being called a racist or bigot, they are going to call you that anyway. It makes me sad to see that so much history will be lost to those "offended" by it! Absolutely sickening.

Contractors wore vests and helmets.

No permits were shown

the company that removed it was not disclosed

Only 1 company filed a bid which required a minimum of 3 to be submitted.

The City broke so many of its own rules its rediculous

Liberty Place is still on National list of historic landmarks. It has not been delisted as of now

Well, dim city council, so rules do not apply.

The problem started early. I don't think they were ever taught history in the first place. I have a grandson in high school that doesn't know anything about the American Civil war except the slavery issue. What he's been 'taught' about that and other historical events is appallingly thin and biased.

You're dreaming. Just let these idiots do whatever they want to their shithole of a city. You don't want to go, trust me. You don't want to go, you don't want to be there. Just forget about those fools.

New Orleans was a trashy shithole before Katrina, and it's even worse now. Just forget about those idiots, let them wallow in it.

I predict it'll happen in Richmond too, just a matter of time. The compromise 20 years ago was to balance Lee, Jackson, Stuart, Davis, and Murray on Monument Avenue with one for Arthur Ashe. Not only did it not make sense, aesthetically it's truly awful. But, it will be the one left standing.

The only bid that was received came in almosst $400k higher than the "donated" private funds that got anonymously funneled through an organization

Rumor has it Soros was in town last week. Miraculously the city NOW has all the funds needed

Ask these same genius's who George Washington Carver or Frederick Douglas is and they won't have a clue.
