Need one of those small square quick open jobs for a pistol or 2, mounted on a closet shelf.

Probably a keypad style.

So many, what's a good/best model?

I have had a couple Barska safes for several years now and they work fine.

I have this one without the biometric part. Had it for a few years and no issues. I like the fact that it has a barrel key for a backup.

V-Line makes a few models that can be mounted in a closet.

I have one of their Quick Vault wall models.

I have 3 of those a Vline safe with quick release, one of them mounted in a 7 1/2 foot kitchen pantry. They always work with the analog combination. MG

I had an issue at my house with an electronic safe in an emergency.

I went with this one mounted to my bed frame:

It also lets you take it to the car or the range as a portable vault by accessing a release from the inside of the vault.

I liked having a vault available to take to different vehicle mounts. (It comes with different mounts, including for closets.)

I also use some of these:

You can permanently attach them to a closet as well.

They make a version for the shotgun and rifle as well.

I use foam shaped in a wedge under the dust cover end of the pistol while leaving a void under the grip so the pistol grip will pop up in my hand as I open the top.

I have a Barska with the biometric pad and the key backup. I keep 5 handguns and a little of this and a little of that in it. Plenty of room. I did have to install a LED strip light.

V-line with simplex mechanical lock for the win.

Fuck any electronic locks or biometric crap. It will fail you someday in your moment of need.
