Why would they even be allowed to do that? I would think the officer running the ceremony would give the candidates the "death stare" until they pulled that stupid puppet off of their hand and took things seriously.

The Colonel took the biggest hit, 06 to 05 and retired.

Listening to the dude snickering in the background really pissed me off.

Truth be told, I’m mildly surprised that punishment was this swift and heavy.

To add -

Nice that the Colonel had to read the oath off of a sheet of paper like it’s the first time he’s heard it. Don’t officer’s memorize shit anymore?

How would they think that was appropriate at all. All involved should be dishonorably discharged. For Senior people to do something like this, in my opinion, shows some major issues with the command at that base. Someone needs to clean house.

Unbelievable.

We're lost for good if something doesn't snap us out of this childish trance people are in, and I'm afraid that the only thing which can do this is a major war.

It's like Eight Ball said about Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket- in order to reach his full potential as a human, he needs to have someone throwing hand grenades at him.

That's us, gentlemen. The United States needs to have people throwing grenades at us in order to snap us out of this incredible, unbelievable, suicidal trance.

And to the woman in that video- girly, you want to play with hand puppets? Great. Tell ya what- there are day care centers all over this country, so go find your calling with the kiddies and stop acting as if you're qualified to defend this nation, you fucking half-wit.

I think this is the best thing I've read about this.
Everything's a fucking game anymore and it's all for attention. Look what I can do. I know someone will record me on their phone. I'm gonna be famous.
You enlisted in the fucking military jerkoff. This is not time for puppets.

As a retired Air Force MSgt. I am both disgusted and angry seeing this clown show! WTF are they doing?!!

There's no logical reason or excuse for this, but what was that E-7's (can't call her a MSgt! Mad ) motivation for doing this? I cannot think of why this was even considered, let alone be allowed to happen.

Ronin made some excellent points too. The 0-6 (can't call him Colonel) having to read off a paper??
I also read that the 1stSgt was recording the video! So he/she was involved too! Frown

I too am surprised at the swiftness of punishment, but happy to see the whole command isn't reliving Sesame Street!

Is it me or are military uniforms getting baggier and baggier?

And based on many recent photo's I have seen of military members, our government has apparently banned irons and boot polish.

What a mess.

At least we still have the Marine Corps.

Actually, my opinion is that the idiots should have been thrown the hell out and barred from ever enlisting.

But then I still have immense respect for, and pride in, our military.

My question is, "Whatever happened to Class A's? Swearing in ceremony! Every time I re-enlisted the uniform of the day was CLASS A!!

There is too much incomprehensible stupidity and lack of respect to comment on, but I don’t understand the concern about the colonel’s reading the oath. It’s been a long time since I took one, but as I recall it was always read to me. The reason for reading is that it’s too important to get wrong. Back when I was giving Miranda-type warnings, I always read them so that no defense attorney could insinuate in court that perhaps I’d forgotten a key element and left it out.
Heck, I even read my range safety briefing so I don’t forget anything, and I’d bet a nickel that I’ve given it far more often than any officer has administered the oath of enlistment.

I'd hoped for years we could reel it back in. It seems less likely/possible all the time.

Yes, it looks like we're in for a reckoning, though I doubt I have enough time left to see it.

I'm reading Kurt Schlichter's Indian Country right now & the policies and behavior of the left in his book are the the obvious conclusions to the idiocy we're seeing now.
