What do you mean by the "world"? If it's just humans, I'd vote for a comet or large volcanic eruption that blocks the sun leading to many years of nuclear winter snuffing out most life and food sources. Unlikely, although there was nothing living except plants (and not all existing species) when we got here some fifty thousand years from now from Day Zero (sometime in the 1940s). Not even tardigrades, protozoa, bacteria or viruses. Only trace evidence of electromagnetic radiation and inconsistent distribution of elements indicated the presence of sentient beings, hence the question. It has been somewhat of a mystery, occupying considerable resources in some circles, now partly, but not completely answered. Considered probability of secondary (actually tertiary) development of sentient biologicals through remaining planetary cycle at or as near zero as calculable. Planet-ending meteor strike is unlikely given the local cycle, so likely the planet physically exists until Sol/planet orbit merge in approximately 5 billion years (calculated on Earth orbit cycle), the most probable scenario - nuclear fusion is a rather predictable clock.
