Ok, "Fighting" has become the new buzzword in the firearms industry and much like Billy Mayes, it has been wore the frig out. Attach "Fighting" into the title and it sells. The that kills me the worst is that a couple of the schools that bill themselves as be a "fighting" school teach absolutely horrible tactics and no fundamentals.

A recent conversation with a student......

Student-I just got back from XYZ Fighting pistol course
Me- Really? Did you enjoy yourself.
Student- Absolutely. I had a blast we shot 2200 rounds in two days.
Me- Cool. What did you learn?
Student- To move off the centerline and shoot.
Me- What else?
Student- Well, we shot alot.
Me- What else? Did you do alot of trigger control stuff?
Student- None.
Me- What else?
Student- We shot alot.

And this guy is a shooter and knows his way around a Glock.

I'm looking into the future, and I see operator/operation being the popular terms. I could be a marketing consultant for the military apparel industry. You laugh now, but just wait until a year or two when you overhear a story that starts with, "So there I was, a tactical operator operating an operation."

I've actually been hearing the "operator" term in ads for quite awhile now. Mall Ninjas eat that kind of shit up.

It makes sense that they'd have to come up with some "new" marketing thing. Tacti-cooool is well worn. It isn't selling as well anymore. Hoola-hoops are out. Yo-yo's are in. Roll Eyes

I'm going to start my own survival course. I'm going to call it Bewilderness Training. Students will hand me $1500 cash, the keys to their cars... & a 30 minute head start. Graduates get an embossed, gold leaf dunce cap.

I figure if you've gotten to the point where you're actually having to fight, you've probably already screwed up. I'd prefer trainings that taught how to win before it gets to that.

Same way with "survival" training - any moron can survive, I want people who can win.

Or if you need to take a class to tell you when you're in one... you're gonna have some serious problems.

They could try "9/11". That's been popular lately.

BTW, I always like "precision engineered". It's so descriptive.

It's just history repeating itself. In the '70s it was all about "Combat". Combat Commander, Combat Masterpiece, even Wilson Combat (though I bet Bill Wilson thinks about changing it to Wilson Tactical, if you're ever bored, try counting the word "tactical" in a Wilson catalog)

No the operative word in gunfighting is winning. "Fighting" has become a buzzword that sells everything from training to shoes. Using a weapon in mortal combat is not about fighting, its about winning. Fight all you want. I want to win by any means necessary.

Is marketing bullcrap too redundant?

Somebody should just get it over with & put ALL OF THEM into the name:

Tactical-Combat-Fighting... Reality Based... Zero Trans Fats...
