There comes a time with every car when a new payment is cheaper in the long run (or at least easier to budget for). Repairs and parts today are expensive. Also, finding someone to do even basic things right can be difficult. My wife had a new battery installed at Sears last week and they did not even tighten the terminals Mad. Her car suddenly would not start and I luckily knew right away the first thing to check.

I kinda of assumed as much from the lesbian comment. I've never heard it said about any other Subaru.

Well, I'm well and truly fucked then- I've got both a Subaru *and* a Miata.

'Course, the Miata has a 220hp turbo kit and I regularly embarass Mustang and F-body guys, but, well... call me a queer I guess. Wink

Roll Eyes

Damned fun cars on the curvy roads. Performance cars are about more than straight line acceleration and, to me, a Miata and a nice mountain road is a hell of a lot more fun than a 10 second 1/4 mile (most likely in a car the Miata would eat for lunch on a curvy road).

I LOVE the new Miata's. I'd probably own one if I could justify a 2 door convertible at the moment.

Also the Outback seems a lot more "lesbian" than the Forester which is a great compact SUV.

a Glock has NO soul...it's not quirky enough, it's too mainstream

it is only a tool...it can have bling, it can go fast, it can be dependable...but it doesn't have a soul

how can you say that about the Japanese MG-B...it's not like it's a Porsche 924

Indeed - that is the one thing I will say about the Subaru. The two winters I lived in Colorado it completely rocked on foul roads. The down side was the very small amount of clearance between the tires and the wheel wells which would clog up pretty regularly with iced over sludge. doesn't matter though, the beast is gone and the wife is 100% happy with her new ride. I have a friend who is gay and drives a Prius but his last car was a Honda Civic.

We kept our last Honda to 260,000 miles. The only thing wrong with it was the air conditioner.

I'm not giving mine up. It's too damn fast.

It always surprises people how fast a stock '04 XT is...

VW Beetle.

No self respecting guy would drive a car with a flower pot in it.

Miata's handle well and I've seen one with a small block Ford V-8 in it.... I never thought of them as a gay car.

I'd consider a Miata if I wasn't 6'3".

Gay car? Lesbian car? Silly ideas.

Sorry... but I think that a vehicle should go well beyond that mileage before it "dies". Toyota claims that the Miata line doesn't even start breaking in until the 100k mark. Other modern vehicles should be about the same. I had a old 1977 Impala stationwagon that ran until it hit 287k. It had just rolled over 100k when I bought it and I put nearly twice that on it over a decade. I'd expect that much out of a new vehicle.
