I've had a few stressful weeks, over shit I shouldn't be stressed over about.

Not sleeping, not eating. But the unicorns have been bountiful. Almost glorious, except they shit in my yard.

And my neighbors have "implied" they don't like me walking around inside, or outside, my own house naked.

But my guns are clean. And I still own a dog.

I JUST WANT TO SLEEP!!!!

I apologize now...

I'll have my sister-in-law call you. That should do the trick.

Sleepytime Extra.

Chamomile with valerian. Good shit.

If that doesn't work, then three fingers of Crown Royal will do the trick.

I tried melatonin years ago when working nights. Didn't do a thing for me.

If you want to go the prescription route, I highly recommend Sonata. On quick, off quick, and it doesn't leave you feeling like crap the next day.

I take melatonin and valerian root.

But, as cudameat says, it's great for putting you to sleep. My problem is staying asleep.

When I travel overseas I take 9mg at dinner time plus as advil pm at bedtime. Gets me the rest I need and on the local time (+8 hours from home) much quicker. I can't use alcohol to sleep - I rebound and it wakes me up on the middle of the night.

Try a 500 mg magnesium tablet about 1/2 hr before you want to go to bed. It works like a charm for me.

I'm with you ASK. Stressed the fuck out. Not eating or sleeping. When I do eat I feel sick, when I do sleep I wake up in the middle of the night.

Work has sucked and I feel like I need a change of scenery. Like 100% change. New location, new direction, new job.

I've been taking some left over Xanax from a long time ago. Works 40% of the time, leaves me hung over the next day 90% of the time. Tried beer, takes too much to make me fall asleep. Tried reading it seems to work the best, but takes hours.

I think I need less stress. Seems like I get off work, do some cleaning and whatever other choir must get done for the night. Then cook food and it's somehow already bedtime yet I am not in the least bit sleepy. If I am sleepy, sleeping doesn't work or I only sleep for 2-4 hours and wake up.

FML.

Fairly new Rx Med called Belsomra. Works to keep you asleep. I've had good reports from patients.

Melatonin is the only way to go since it is thought to have other benefits to increase your life span and protect against Alzheimer.

We Americans tend to take drugs. Not surprising since insomnia is huge problem caused largely by the invention of Thomas Edison. Identifying the factors that disrupt sleep is helpful, particularly stress reduction. These simple tips help and they are free:

Go to the doctor. People don't sleep for a variety of reasons. Vitamins can help, but self-diagnosis isn't always the answer. For me, it was a combination of Ambien, not eating late in the evening and Melatonin. I get up to four hours of sleep a night which is a gift for someone like me.
