It has nothing to do with wasting resources. It has everything to do with bilking your insurance company for every single thing they can bill for. Just wait till you get the bill and see how many different line items and how much the insurance paid them.

That is how things used to be. This is not the arcane world of Hospital billing which would require a healthcare consultant to decipher. Vtail has MEDICARE. It is Medicare and CMS that require documentation for the bill to be paid. Many doctors no longer take Medicare patients because they pay so little and require so much documentation to be paid. Private insurers typically pay DOUBLE what Medicare will and Medicaid even less. Insurance companies are the ones doing the bilking, believe me.

I understand your complaints. However, did the new eye guy have those results? If not, a lot of what they do may be covering their asses. Most places, especially need to do a plan of care yearly.
My bitch at the dentist last week was all the repetitive paperwork that they do. I said have me come in early to fill out. Or send them to me. Of course that would cost a stamp. So we spent the first 25 minutes of a 50 minute appt. doing paperwork. And then a quick rush through cleaning. She actually went over by 5 minutes and you'd of sworn the meteor hit.

I was not going there to become an ongoing patient with yearly care. This was intended to be a one-shot deal. I told them that I had a very specific problem, I wanted a diagnosis to be confirmed, and if it was confirmed I wanted a Rx to deal with it. Topical steroid and Restasis, if indicated.

This did not require dilation, which Blondie tried to push on me.

This did not require a refraction, which Blondie tried to push on me.

This did not require my glasses to be checked in their machine, which Blondie tried to push on me.

None of the procedures that I refused, that Blondie wanted, had anything to do with the reason I was there. None of them. Total waste of their time. Total waste of my time. Total waste of insurance billing. That is the essence of my rant, here in the "Pitch Your Bitch" section.

Nope, not applied at all by the MD. Once he saw me, he got straight to the actual problem. He wasted no time with unnecessary crap. None. No dilation. No refraction. No checking of glasses. No irrelevant crap. He went straight to the problem, which was associated with tear ducts, not with the irrelevant bullshit that Blondie wanted to waste time with.

Thanks, LBJ, you socialist bastard. May you rot in hell.

Are you saying that MediCare mandates the stupidity that I encountered yesterday? Looking back at it, I now have the feeling that the whole thing was choreographed by the Stooges.

I have had two eye exams in the last 3 and a half months.
First one in April was regular vision and the last one this past Wednesdat was for the diabetic part. Neither one took more than an hour. However medjcare now ma dates they have to be broken up into two parts for some unknown reason. I would have much preferred to do it all at one time, especially since theh only charged for one of them.

Here it is, July 8th, and I find myself wondering if the good ophthalmologist came to a diagnosis and treatment plan for you?

Is it working? I hope so!

Well, I was not planning on getting into this, but since you asked, let me back track and put things in time sequence.

First, I had an email exchange with SIGforum's Official Eye Doc. He made an educated guess, from a thousand miles away, based on my description of the problem.

I took his information to the ophthalmologist that I ranted about, who made a fast diagnosis after all the preliminary waste of time. This guy's diagnosis was basically the exact opposite of the one that I received from the SIGforum eye doc.

I asked local guy what his treatment plan would be, he replied that the plan would be to send me to yet another specialist.

I went to her office, was examined there with no BS, and she reversed the diagnosis of the first local guy, so now it seems that SIGforum's Official Eye Doc hit it dead center. I'm being treated for the condition that he thought it was.

The treatment is long term, and the forecast is that it will take six weeks or so to really show the effects of the treatment, so I'll report back around end of August.

Correct diagnosis, as nailed by the SIGforum Official Eye Doc from 1,000 miles away, was chronic dry-eye, probably age-related. Not producing enough tears.

Reversal of this diagnosis, incorrectly, by the ophthalmologist whose staff member wasted everybody's time, was epiphora: plenty of tears produced, but not draining properly. He sent me to another ophthalmologist who is also a plastic surgeon for possible roto-rooter treatment to improve drainage.

Diagnostics showed that drainage was fine, so back to the original chronic dry-eye, now being treated with restasis.
