My policy is simple. You want to wear one fine. If I don't fine. But other than that keep your mouth closed.

My employer requires us to wear masks. I’m so used to it that I even wear it at my gym, where it’s not required. I’m a big bald dude so I bought several of the Bane masks and have been having a pisser of a good time wearing them.

Executive order goes into effect in Seminole County FL this coming Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

With a few exemptions, masks will be required in indoor public access places, and also outdoors where "social distancing" can not be maintained.

I might need to get one of these:

Well, here in Florida since they relaxed things on June 1st. New cases have been really skyrocketing. Much much higher per day than before June 1st.

Because...election.

Because...federal dollars siphoned off the top of "relief stimulus" can fix a lot of state/county/city money mismanagement or fund improvements/ pet projects without going to the voters for local tax dollars.

Because...elected leaders don't want to be that guy, the one who doesn't react to a problem, and allow a crisis to worsen (or appear to worsen under their watch) ...far better (politically speaking) for them to over-react and save face by joining the 'herd' of their elected peers, rather than allow for personal responsibility. They don't want to be the guy left without a chair when the music stops playing.

Because..."never let a crisis go to waste" when a political party can leverage said crisis to implement far reaching changes and condition the masses to fear and accept increased governmental power and control.

A LOT more testing going on. Gonna be more “cases”.

I spoke about this topic over a lunch, with
the manager of a 58,000 sq. Ft.
Grocery store offered me his perspective.

He said that the fowl attitudes and fist fights can't be blamed solely on mask wearing.

He knows for a fact that the confrontational demeanors are a culmination of many factors, that
most people are not used to managing.

He says that 75% of the everyday common courtesy has been set aside
, not totally lost, because people are having a hard time managing " stuff".

He considers it a courtesy to others around him to wear a mask.
To him
Other people's comfort is important,

The lunch lasted an hour, he made really good points.

Basically, social interaction ( as us old farts have known it)

Has made an important evolutionary jump, How the old and young transition,
What will define the world that we share.

My two pesos...my belief from the beginning of this thing is that the virus was running like wildfire through populations, long before enough was known about it to make good decisions or form plans. All this Shelter-in-Place social distancing face mask wearing is either delaying the inevitable or completely ineffective for anything more than a very short term strategy. The proverbial "shutting the barn door after the horse has escaped". Sooner or later we will all be exposed to it. The youngest and healthiest will mostly be fine, some of us will get sick and recover, and, sadly, a few of us won't make it...just like every other day in the lives of humans.

Those most vulnerable or concerned should consider staying home and taking whatever precautions they feel necessary. The rest of us need to go back to work, back to school, back to church, and back to living normal human lives and, for me, that doesn't include wearing masks.

I'm for pushing for herd immunity...and if my attitude strikes anyone as being cavalier, I'll just mention that I have a few risk factors for the virus. So be it.

This is exactly how I feel including having several risk factors for the virus. I traveled extensively by air before this shutdown occurred and will once again. A typical week would have me in 3-4 states and in the air 4 of 7 days. I am sure that I get exposed to a lot of crap, yet I manage to catch a common cold about every other year and something more serious about once a decade. The death rate and hospitalization rates are not overwhelming the system. Our local news reported the exact number of new cases of COVID in Nashville, and in the same breath stated a 65% percentage weekly increase in hospitalizations. Wonder why they used a percentage... the number wasn’t scary enough? 65% increase over 3 is only 5 new hospitalizations, yet they gave us no baseline to judge. Let’s face it, the average person in this country doesn’t have the logical reasoning to hear what isn’t being reported by the news. It’s all feelings and emotions! I was trained as an analyst by trade and when you dig deep into the facts, the hospitalizations have all been seniors or people with severe comorbidity health issues.

A couple days ago I was just leaving the grocery store check out stand traveling down the aisle to the exit, when a young Hispanic looking mother and her two kids abruptly turned the corner and walked in against the flow of customers pushing carts out.

As she turned the corner I saw her grab the tail of her long brown hair and wrap it around her nose and mouth and, apparently, use it as her mask...

...as someone who hasn't worn a mask yet it didn't bother me to see her do it, but I couldn't help smiling thinking about just how effective these mask mandates are supposed to be, given the variations in material, design, fitment, and sanitizing protocols.

The governor recently started a state-wide mask wearing campaign, complete with slogans and virtue signaling, and so our local city mayor jumped on board and started a city mask wearing campaign and we are being told it is the "respectful" thing to do.

Our governor, Bill Lee, who has taken an "in-between" (i.e., between Noem of SD vs. whatsherface of MI) approach to this, just extended the "state of emergency" to the end of August. Roll Eyes Still no requirement - just urging - to wear masks, stay at home, etc. I have not personally observed any "shaming," and maybe 25% of people I've observed wear them.

Something I’ve noticed about mask shamers on social media. They have so little self control that they have to usually get a shot in about “orange man bad” in their bid to shame you about masks. But, yet the want people with guns to force you to wear a mask because you have no self control to do as you are told.

Queen Andy has put forth unConstitutional mandatory mask orders that no one can enforce against individuals. Businesses will be bullied. If it saves one life.......

Lol. Same here. I have to wear a mask at work and on airplanes and at this point I’m so used to it that I just realized I’m still wearing it while sitting all alone in the skyclub. I think the whole mask thing is stupid but I’m not quitting my job over it.

I was squeezed into a cockpit for 14 hours the other day with one who insisted on wearing his mask the entire time. I did not wear a mask. He didn't give me a hard time about not infecting him, and I didn't give him a hard time about his inability to use his oxygen mask in the event of an explosive depressurization.

I'm all for wearing masks, but safety of flight first, and frankly, if someone else is infected in that cockpit, we're all getting it by the end of the trip, masks or not.

Thankfully, that hasn't been mandated in all of AZ, only certain counties, Maricopa and Pima(?). Northern AZ counties have not mandated it unless required by the particular store (costco).

Some northern AZ dentists, vets and doctors now require patients to sit in their vehicles or stand outside in the heat until escorted into the office by staff.
