Our boys have been cursed with awful ears.
The oldest is about to get his 3rd set of tubes. His ear drum ruptured last week. So we took him to the ENT looked in the ears and scheduled him ASAP. He told us it would likely rupture again before the surgery. Sure enough, ruptured tonight.
His 2nd set of tubes was just about 2 years ago and they also removed his tonsils and adnoids.
The middle boy has had one set of tubes and adnoids removed. His tubes are still in and doing fairly well.
The 7 month old had the flu, got over it and got RSV a week later, 10 days later he is still having labored breatheing so I took him in today and sure enough he has ear infection number 3.

February isn’t even over yet and we have already burned through 1/2 our FSA for the year.
Last year we stretched it out till August but we also had one set of Tubes and we had a baby.
I sure am glad they frontload that thing!!

Poor things. I spent a couple years up all night with our daughter till we got her ears worked out. Gotta be miserable for them.

As my mom always says “This too shall pass”. Hang in there and make them feel like crap about it when they are teens. Smile

Sorry to hear that. RSV is no joke, I’m sure the ear problems are not any easier. Best of luck.

Did you ever have your home checked for mold levels?

I went though multiple sets of tubes when I was a kid. I remember many a night screaming in pain with my mom holding me. Hopefully it doesn't get that bad for your kids, it's an awful pain.

I did not know there could be a correlation.
Guess I will have to look into getting the house checked.

I too had 3-4 pair. Tonsils and adenoids out at 3 (I recall having to stay in the hospital a week because I went "nah, fuck that, it hurts" every time they tried to get me to drink on my own). I remember having to go to ENT on a regular basis, and even have distinct memories of being physically restrained so the doctor could suction out my infected ear.

I wouldn't wish that on an adult, much less a child. At least the adult understands what's going on.

When I got my tonsils out at 3 or 4, the only nice part about it was the popsicles they kept giving me. Everything else pretty much sucked though.

We went through this with one of our kids. It gets better.

It’s a helpless feeeling knowing they are suffering.

I feel really fortunate that my two boys never had an issue like this. In fact, they never were sick for more than a few hours as I remember. Lucky in that respect but so very unfortunate in others.

Good luck. Watch out for the RSV. Ended up giving my son Pneumonia when he was about that age.

IV antibiotics and a 5 day stay at the hospital he was doing better. Just watch him closely.

When I lived near you I was told every building there has mold issues, the climate is perfect for it. I stayed sick as a dog the entire year I was there.

Hope the little ones feel better soon. I had frequent swimmers ear as a child and it was terribly painful.

I had tubes when I was a kid. My brother as well. My first two boys, David and Isaac, had them and adenoids removed. So far the younger two have avoided it. Though Phoebe is on track to need them. JUST when we finally pay off the Children's hospital too.

Good luck. Never fun to see our children suffer in pain.
