I went to read an article and it's one of those slide show type things. Read a few sentences then click to the next page. Ads on both sides and above the article.

Screw you WebMD. I will not click through your crap. How authentic am I to take your articles when all I see is drug companies advertising on your pages.

Agreed. It's gotten much harder to find medical information online since most search results seem to yield clickbait articles that list a few symptoms and tell you to either call 911 or see your primary doctor.

Forums and such with discussions of real people, how drugs worked, etc., seem harder to find now.

There are plenty of online information sites for medical advice but sadly most of them have advertising and are biased accordingly. Many specialists have quite a bit of unbiased information on their websites which is available for free. For example, many orthopedic surgeons have PDF downloads for post surgical care and PT.
