On this day, I stood valiantly against my mortal foe. Face to face we wrestled, punched, kicked and stabbed. Through the late hours of the day we battled. Breathing heavily, gasping for air, i had had enough. I drew my pistol and shot the bastard.
2016 federal and state taxes filed.

My accountant did mine a couple weeks ago. Should have my refund early next week.

It's a good feeling to cross that off the list every year.

We all have until April 18th this year, or least that's what Turbotax told me.

Yup. 15th is Saturday, so normally it would be the following Monday, but I guess Monday is a holiday this year -- Easter -- so it's pushed back to Tuesday, April 18.

Paying in about $2k this year. I'm 80% done, but no hurry on the rest.

I sat down to do mine last month. Fed went fine, no problems. Then I started on the state return. Holy Shit. They redesigned the state forms this year, and whoever the SOB was that did it must have family working for H&R Block. Completely un-followable. The guy needs to be drawn and quartered. I finally gave up and went online to Turbo Tax to get it done.

I'll pay the Feds around $3K this year. I wouldn't mind so much send the check if they just wouldn't piss it away.

I started on mine yesterday.
Somehow I owe the state of VA $555. I have never ever had to pay either Fed or State, whether it has been here in VA, Ohio or when I lived in MD.

I know it is not close to anything what some of the forum members are paying, but I just want to know why I owe.

That is my hunt for the next few days.

Yeah, spent more than an hour this morning trying to get all the forms and booklets ordered from the inFernal revenue service so Mrs. Elk can do our taxes.

Typical, convoluted, piece of gubbermint software.
