I loathe DST. To make matters worse, I’m in Germany and my fiancé is in CST zone of Florida. Germany does DST two weeks after America. By the time I get used to the DST-adjusted time difference between us now, Germany will DST and I’ll have to readjust!

I had to schedule phone conferences regularly throughout the year, sometimes 3 months in advance with different countries like Singapore, India, Europe, etc.

I had to create an Excel spreadsheet just to keep the DSTs correct in order to find a decent hour for everyone involved.

Plus countries sometimes change when the time switches like the US did some time back. We had to recall a medical device we made because the time switch was off.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

When CA changes to DST, i always say that they’re changing to AZ time. To accommodate the “Zonies” that come here in the summertime to escape the AZ heat.

It's not the change that bothers me, it's one freaking hour for pete's sake (who the hell is Pete, anyway?). But I work a 7-4 or 6:30-3:30 shift, so my alarm clock goes off at 4:30 in the morning. I have to go to bed earlier than many to get enough sleep in, but I find it hard to nod off when it's still light outside. So I'm all for killing of DST altogether.

Actually we should vote to move the whole state (FL) to Central time zone all our shows would start earlier, and when DST kicks in we move to EST without changing our clocks or back to CST.

We never change our time then, just time zones.

We had a tornado warning at about 1:55 Sunday morning that didn't expire until 3:15. Good news is that was only 20 minutes spent hunkered down, but listening to the weather dude trying to explain that was amusing.

What I don't get is all the supposedly empirical data showing increased accidents, depression, world hunger, etc. the day and week after change. I also love folks equating it to jet lag. Sheesh - it's one hour. If someone's so delicate that they must have precisely the same amount and start/stop time of sleep every single night or chaos ensues, they should consider an emotional support animal.

I hear Akita's are making a surge!

DST is one of the dumbest, most irrational ideas ever conceived by man. "Stupid" doesn't even begin to describe it.

Kill it with fire. I hate is as much as Black Friday traffic/shopping. It’s completely antiquated.

Again, it's daylight saving time, no s.

I love when we switch. Who wouldn't want an extra hour of daylight when they get home from work?

It takes the mind, and to some extent the body (mine, at least) ~3-4 days to get used to it.

I'm cool with that, can we just keep the one that gives us more light after work please? I don't need the sun to drive into work, but I could sure use it when I get home.

In other words, you want a 7-4 workday. I’m fine with that. What I would like is for am/pm to keep their empiracle meaning, that is the distinction when the sun is at midday. Hence “ante meridiem and post meridiem. Playing games and pretending 7:00 am is really 8:00am is childish.

I for one like the longer daylight hours.
I have over an hour and a half drive home and during "winter time" I have no daylight left when I get home.
An hour is enough to feed the chickens and do farm chores.

I like it as it is now...more daylight at the end of the day...leave it as it is now 365 and I'll be content Smile...plus it keeps NASA from screwing around moving the sun back and forth Big Grin

Ugh. Hate daylight saving time. Need an "extra" hour of daylight? Get up earlier.

But don't cancel DST just because I don't like it. Cancel it because it increases your risk of heart attack.
