Clayton Moore.
Appeared in a few B movies and landed the role as The Lone Ranger. Not only could he not separate himself from the Lone Ranger, he began to act as though he did not want to.

Jay Silverheels.
Co-starred as the faithful sidekick Tonto, and was rarely seen again, except for an occasional appearance on the Tonight show.

George Reeves.
He had a short career in films and may have gone on to something after his stint as TV's Superman but he struggled to find other work and died, mysteriously, before having a chance to.

5 years in to his role of Jethro Bodine, Max Baer Jr. was pitching all kinds of bitch's about being
turned down for numerous rolls in both tv and films.

oh he made it on a dozen or so other tv shows at the time of the hillbilly's but afterward, not so much at all.

besides bob denver he was most affected

With the possible exception of Richard Dawson.

Gary Burgoff. He played Walter "Radar" O'Rielly in the movie MASH, the TV series MASH, and a failed spin off WALTER.

While he did a few other things, he played Radar from 1970 to 1984.

14 years is not a short role to be in. Wink

He's 5'6". Every role is a short role.

How about John Astin as Gomez Addams? Also, James Drury as The Virginian. Wally Cox as Mr. Peepers also comes to mind.

Clarence Leroy Van Cleef Jr., was an American actor whose sinister features overshadowed his acting skills and typecast him as a minor villain for a decade before he achieved stardom in Spaghetti Westerns such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

^ He'd been in a couple movies prior to FMJ, though usually the same basic thing. Sergeant Loyce in The Boys in Company C and the Gunny in Purple Hearts.

How about Don Knotts? He had a lot of roles but he played pretty much the same character in all of them.

Don Knotts was a character actor, just like (say) Jack Elam and Paul Lynde. Don's schtick was the toothless chihuahua. Jack's was the addled but harmless type and Paul's was the catty fussbudget.
