I work in public safety, and as a result I get to see the bright examples of stupid within my local community.

I guess I just can't stand the people that can't see that alcohol is a major cause of trouble in their lives.

Not a day goes by where there isn't a drunken domestic violence event.

Tonight, I had a ton come my way. One guy blew up at his fiance because she was playing a video game...this verbal turned "stupid" when he decided to punch her in the mouth.

Then a few hours later I had a battered wife who wanted a TPO against her husband, both had been drinking...after he decided he wanted to kick her ass around the house a little. He left the scene, and had his State Rep. daddy come pick him up, and give my agency crap about the fact that he had to come out to pick up his drunk, dumb fuck of a son who just had to smack his wife around.

Maybe I'm just mad cause I work night shift and had day light savings tax on an extra hour to my 12 hour shift...

I found this one LNIB.

Date code revealed it was a 1 year old female, red smooth coat, made in the mini factory.

It eats everything I feed it, but has issues with ND's on the floor.

Although I enjoy alcohol, it can definitely add "fuel" to the fire...

They either know or don't have the intellegence to care.

Either way it's kind of like overeaters, they get fat and want to find someone or something to blame it on.

Personal responsibility.

I think this was why pot was legal for personal use when I was station in Alaska. Potheads do not get mean when they are stoned like some people do on alcohol. Potheads will eat all you cookies and Doritos though. I worked as a bartender for years and go to observe the Mr. Hyde effect beer has on some people.

Unfortunately it's the nature of the job, people that drink responsibly stay out of the lock up.

Yeah I almost forgot my D.U.I. last night that had 16 citations during one stop.

She had 4 juv's in the car, one crawling around on the floorboard, none in car seat, and she was hammered.

I'm pretty sure testimony in every DV case starts out: "Well, we was drinkin' and..."

There is such a thing as responsible drinking, just as there are responsible and mature people.

...but you don't see many of them in your line of work. I'm a reserve LEO and I feel your pain, though far less often.

Yup.
Ask any doc who has worked in an ER.
I remember one night, ambulance brought in drunk mom and kid from MVA. I got skull films on the kid, techs brought the kid's file: about 6 inches thick with x-rays from other motor vehicle "accidents".

Foothills of California are full of these folks.

As of Oct 9th it was 14 years since I got drunk or high. I did 12 step stuff for a while but by my third year got real tired of the encouraging atmosphere when it was applied to people who needed more of a kick in the ass then a hug. I recall a guy I will call G. whining to me about his gf having a restraining order on him. He almost looked like I had hit him when I responded "Stop acting like a dumbfuck psycho{" instead of commiserating with his woes. I didn't have any arrests or domestic shit but I did act like a dumbass while drinking and it was affecting my work and social life.

Congratulations. I have watched people struggle through all 5,1113 of those days.

Alcohol is nothing but a magnifier. It takes existing latent stupidity and brings it out for all to see in great detail.

Yeah I wish people could just see that they can't handle/control themselves when they drink. It seems like so much stupid reveals itself once the drinks start flowing.

That's the beauty of it, everything you do is right when you're drunk no matter how stupid it might be when you're sober. When you're drunk you can do anything, say anything and it's all just right.

Some people shouldn't drink, i agree.

However, i'm usually a pretty happy, fun person when i drink.

The people i hate are the ones who decide they want to fight anyone and everyone.

First let me say, I do not drink.
Just a personal preference.
I don't mind people that do drink.

Unless it is to excess.....
I just dumped a girl who liked to get realllllly hammered.
Halloween weekend, she drank two bottles of Jaegermeister with her friends.

I dumped her QUICK.

Don't regret it at all.
