Writing loose when the word is lose Login/Join
Too soon old,
Too late smart

What is it that makes this distinction so difficult for people? Not just on SF but throughout the internet? It's an easy word and if you read the sentence out loud it's obvious which word to use. Had to laugh when someone recently posted "I'm a looser...".

Doesn't seem to be a problem in reverse. People seem to know to write "my dog is loose" instead of lose.

The one that bugs me is the misuse of 'sell' and 'sale' as in "I want to sale this..." or "Up for sell".

Apparent there's more than history not taught in schools anymore.

I wonder if being a looser is any different if you live in the dessert?

No, makes no difference to the loosers I’ve met. They’re like us, they say it’s a dry heat.

Loose/lose is my number one pet peeve on internet text. There/their/they're is coming up on the outside.

Doesn't anyone ever look at a dictionary? Does anyone even have a dictionary?

I was looking for our dictionary a couple weeks ago, the bride said she gave it to the library.
Got close enough to the spelling & auto fill took over.

Still, miss the old way and learning more than just the spelling.

I've been seeing "then" used in lieu of "than" a lot lately. Surprisingly, in books and news articles, which are supposed to to have editors and proofreaders.

Might be slower than usual, but I'm not seeing the issue with that.
I bet I feel silly soon, but could you elaborate please?
