Among and between are frequently misused. It's not a great example, but the difference between the two is that 'among' is used with non-specific objects, while "between" is between specific people or things. Between Harry and Judy. Among friends.

My current one:
Most gun triggers have traditionally been curved, and the antonym of “curved” is “straight,” not “flat.”
“There’s a straight stretch of road after the curve ahead.”

They’re straight triggers, not flat ones.

So where did the idea of a “flat” trigger come from? It’s actually one of those things I think about at times. Someone who doesn’t know better thinks up a term, is (one of) the first to apply it, and then everyone else adopts it either unthinkingly or because they believe people won’t know what they’re talking about if they use a better term. How words develop and evolve is interesting to me.

I think people make this mistake because they hear others use the contraction "would've" or "could've".

When I read that in a post, I can't help but think the poster is "expecially" ignorant. However, they probably "could care less".

This reminds me of gun guys who use the word fitment when they mean fit, b/c they think it makes them sound smarter.

"What's a few bucks among friends?" Grammarly flagged the "What's" and suggested, "What're". It didn't say anything about "among", though.
