Ok, why is it so hard for car manufacturers around the world to make car doors that will stay open on anything but a perfectly level surface? I don't have 3 hands to pick up whatever I'm carrying from the car to the house, help myself out of the car and hold the Judas-be-cursed door open. My driveway has a very slight incline, and all 3 vehicles we own (from 3 different car companies from 3 countries) all have doors that will close on whatever appendage is in the door opening!

Or, how about this, a car door, that, when you swing it open, it STAYS OPEN!!! and doesn't come back and hit your shin.

Hmmm... My wife's Honda Pilot does this. However, my K3500 chevy, my 09 F250 and my 86 Bronco II will hold their doors open if standing on their rear bumpers.

They can very easily design them to stay open but they will get 10 times more complaints about "too hard to close" doors than they do now about "won't stay open" doors.

Granny can't lean out and yank that big Crown Vic door off the last notch and closed if it's too stiff.

How about making them with adjustable tension so the operator can set it to where they want it? Would this be so difficult?

I think about this every time I get in or out of a vehicle. When I open the door, for whatever reason, I want it to stay open. Not bounce back closed (or on me).

My chevy will hold the door solidly in 2 or 3 different positions. It's got detentes and a spring. My jeep on the other hand, just has a strap to keep it from swinging into the front fender

Your only recourse is to do suicide doors.
