I have felt all your pain. To say it is an unpleasant experience is putting it too mildly. I would however gladly wish this experience daily upon many of our elected officials.

The urologist won. She said she would do it on the count of three. The bitch yanked it on one. It felt like my kidney came out with it.

My first urologist in Maui did that to me—wife was in the waiting area, she heard a loud yell then a louder laugh—from me.

BTW my bladder biopsy showed only a “tiny” tumor, low-grade, so I won’t be needing weekly catheterization to get BCG infusion.
Believe me, that’s good news!
Next cysto in 3 months.

FWIW, i've been through multiple bouts of bladder CA and am on the 3-month cysto schedule. I've done BCG and don't think it's as bad as a cysto. The catheter is considerably smaller than the camera. Of course, after going through a BCG regimen I had a recurrence, so I'm not necessarily a fan to begin with.

There was a BCG shortage for a while, with all of it going to people who had high grade tumors.

After the BCG shortage was over, they still weren’t doing the treatment at my medical center because of shortage of ....PPE.

That was the best sns3guppy post ever. You can stop contributing now, and we can just enjoy this one over and over again. Truly enjoyable to relive your pain. I am now drinking water to avoid stones.

I was mortified..

But the day came, I sat on the toilet, pushed like I was urinating, and pulled that string/tube right out.
It sure did beat going to the doctor.

I still have several stones in both kidneys, but as long as they don't move, the doctor says not to worry about them.

A few times over the years, I'll feel a tinge in my lower back, and tell the wife in case she finds me on the floor withering in pain.
A few days later I'll feel it working its way out or hear a small stone hit the porcelain.
As long as they are small, they don't hurt.

Hope everything works out for you.

have the stone thing,, in fact I a pretty sure I passed one last week,

the stent and all that,, fortunately not yet,

did have ye ole scope up the johnson to get a good look at my bladder (was still passing some blood a month after a big stone passed)

and he tried his best to poke out a kidney with the damn thing,,

but, my last MRI showed my kidneys looking like a gravel pit,,

such is life

I got a referral to an endourologist, this is a sub specialty that includes 24-hour urine collection followed by dietary recommendations tailored to (1) the type of stone you produce and (2) the excessive products in your urine that are contributing to stone formation.
In my case I produce calcium oxalate stones, but also have gout. Allopurinol controls uric acid in the urine; decreased oxalate (spinach, nuts, others) decreases urine oxalate. In addition because my urine is acidic. The specialist prescribed potassium citrate which raises urine pH and should further help decrease recurrence.
