That's slanderous. Look into a lawsuit. He'll start backing up in a hurry.

Well, I was sure at the very least I'd be lambasted, worst case beat up and called a racist.

Nope... as a matter of fact, he agreed with me on all points and went as far as to say "why the fuck should we expect whites to take us seriously with cops killing blacks when half the time we're at fault, and 100% of the time the problem stems from our own community".... wait, say that again??? he then told me that Obama was the "least black president he can remember and that he considered bill clinton more black. He said he thinks trump is an idiot but that he doesn't think he is in the least bit racist.

I shit you not, that actually happened last night, pretty much verbatim. I guess I need to work on judging book covers and what not.

Interesting turn of events. The black power snuggiebear has reportedly been terminated from his job. I never mentioned his name when I put a statement on file with HR. He had a history of harassing customers so I wouldn't be at all surprised if his collection of complaints and temper finally did him in.

You need to be very careful now and REALLY keep your head on a swivel if he thinks it was you who got him fired.

You said "no backing down" before but it may be a good idea to change gyms just to avoid this nut.

Don't take this as a shot at you but fuck that. I'll continue to keep my awareness level at its highest but I'm not going anywhere.

I read somewhere that Joe Thomas, offensive tackle with the Cleveland Browns had a huge amount of backlash because he supported Sarah Palin against Obama. He wanted traded at the time. It made him start thinking of retirement, which should be after this year.

Yes, still cranking out 5:10's. I can't do the 10K's like that anymore - the training is too destructive to these old knees and joints.

Oddly enough - this is the same pace I was running in my 20's when I was a pencil neck (late 40's now). Took several years off and hit the gym (gaining around 20lbs) - and started up again about 4 years ago. The increase in lean mass is a huge benefit inside of 3 miles - but not to so much after that. I would dread running a half/full marathon.

good for you. My wife and MIL are avid marathoners (is that a word?), I asked her if your time was fast, and she said "not for a professional nigerian runner" Big Grin

Holy smoke, that's moving. You must be finishing at the top in the Masters division.

My best marathon pace was 6:42 min/mile. Just about killed me. Don't know how the pros manager a 4:45 pace.

Yikes.

Regarding the OP, the antagonist has some serious issues with his own race. He's projecting his self hate on you.

I see this racial intimidation tactic daily. Do whatever you feel comfortable with as far as going to the gym. I personally would keep doing what I was doing and ignore him. I don't know how many member here carry to the gym, but it's not a bad idea, especially with bozos like this guy working out there. A NAA Mini disappears in the pocket and will five you piece of mind while at the gym. I'm not saying that you should look for a confrontation or engage this guy in an argument. I am saying that by not going or running out the door when he shows up is exactly what field him. Racial intimidation and what voils down to bullying is the new norm for these clowns.

I keep a G26 and spare mag in a pocket of my gym bag. There are a good number of police that work out there too so that helps. The owners let them know of potential trouble and have had them escort a few people out over the years. I usually see a couple police and they're always openly strapped (except when they're actually lifting of course). I'm not letting the guy run me off.

Many years ago I read an article on Frank Robinson, first black manager in Major League Baseball.

He wrote that most of the racial bullshit he got was from black players he managed.
