I went to Cabelas web site to order ammunition for my son. 300 Win Mag. At checkout, there is a notice to call customer service to complete my order. I waited 15 minutes to talk to customer service. I was told they cannot shop to my state (NJ) because of Covid or rioting. My response was " I ordered the same ammunition a month ago from you". I was told they should not have shipped it to me and if I wanted to purchase it I could go to the Bass Pro in Atlantic City to verify I was over 18. I'm 67. No freaken way! Free shipping over $50, yet I should drive for an hour one way to prove my age. Time to cancel their credit card.

See what response you get at Midway or one of the other sites, maybe it’s a Cabela’s thing? If it’s any to NJ, may have to go to plan B.

The 300 Win Mag seems a bit overkill for most rioting activities.

I have bought online from Midway, Freedom Munitions, and others. Most ask for your Firearm ID card and Drivers license. Once they are on file I have ordered multiple times with no problems. I understand Customer Service is only doing what they are told. Last night I ordered Federal from Freedom Munitions. Their shipping is a little more expensive but it worth it when things are tough to find.
In the past Cabelas would sell and ship me ammo, but Bass Pro wouldn't. Now both won't.

Since Bass Pro bought Cabelas, they run the show.

It’s like putting up with the hurdles buying a gun from Walmart. I’ve only bought a few, but disheartening much of the time.

I use them all the time. Sadly, they are out of ammo right now in the caliber he wanted.

I'm good on ammunition for myself, been stocking up since the Obama years. I am now working to get my 22 year old son stocked up so he can enjoy the sport. Hopefully after the election things will lighten up.

I live in Cook County and there is a Bass Pro in DuPage County not too far from me...

recent sale at Bass Pro (by recent I mean earlier this year) 9mm was advertised at a decent price...I used my credit card and ordered a case...the sale went through...

later that day I received an email that they could not complete the sale...I called and was told they cannot ship ammunition to Illinois...my reply was that you sell this ammunition in Illinois...she repeated we cannot ship to Illinois...I reminded her that I was having it shipped to the store and could provide my FOID when I get there to pick it up and she repeated again, sorry but they don't ship ammunition to Illinois...

I sent an email through their customer service system with an accompanying reference number to my now cancelled sale...that was prior to Fathers Day and I'm still "waiting" for their response or explanation...

Take a little trip to Indiana. Maybe hit the Dunes as well. I will not do business with morons.

I've been to the Bass Pro in Atlantic City only once. You really don't get into the heart of the City, directly off the highway. To keep the Casino people from parking there, they charge for parking. If you buy something in the store (IIRC) over $35, they don't charge for parking. Screw them, they want your business but make you buy something to cover your parking. I'll get ammo somewhere else.
