Just sold one silly, summer only car and bought another. We have a foot of snow on the ground, the new one will not see the road until March or April.

So cancel the XM on the old Camaro Please! Here's the account number... Sounded SO easy.

This took three calls and over an hour of my time. Finally gave up waiting on hold and did it in their chat mode. That took over 10 minutes.

At least their satellite system seems to work near 100%. CS is surely lousy.

Sirius is the roach motel of entertainment companies. You can check in but you can’t check out.

Family's had 4 cars with the damn things built in, and we've never signed up. But we get probably 30 emails a year breathlessly flogging discounts, "Your Radio is Back ON!" sample periods, etc. So I'd just add, you don't even have to check in, to not be able to check out.

I like the service as every trip to town is 35-45 mins one way. But they are so difficult to deal with.

I like the stations but hate their bullcrap that goes with it. Last year I let it expire then they emailed with a good price. I called them back, made a deal with them regarding it won't automatically renew. Last week got a letter stating my subscription expires in February and they will start charging my credit card.

Their customer service has always been a pain in the ass for cancelling or switching service between vehicles. Even more of a pain in the ass, their service doesn't work in Alaska. Being so far north satellite reception on their service is questionable at best. When I called to cancel service, I had to explain several times over that I hand reception in Alaska. Even after I successfully cancelled it, I continued to receive subscription offers from them.

So the one place I've lived where I really, "Need" satellite radio, it doesn't work.

They are crooks, plain and simple. Never, ever pay them with a credit card. I go through the same dog and pony show with them every October. Somehow they find a promotion so that when I call them, my $230 service becomes $97. They want my credit card but I insist they send me a bill for the agreed upon amount and I send them a check. If they have my card, next October there will be a $230 charge on it that I have "agreed to" in their paperwork.

You had better log on to your account and double check that. Their live chat reps don’t have the authority to cancel service. In fact, neither do their retention specialists (which you can only speak with on the phone). They have to escalate your call to a manager for authorization to cancel service.

I play this game at least once a year, but I get my service for practically nothing and I listen almost exclusively to XM Patriot for Breitbart and Andrew Wilkow, so it’s worth the hassle.

The experience would be improved if they had ANY US-based support. 100% of their call centers are in India as far as I can tell.

I got 3 months of Sirius for free just for taking my F150 to the dealer for recall work. No strings attached. For them to offer something like this tells me they are circling the bowl.

My car came with a trial subscription, but I never renewed and never got anything from them that I recall.

I do enjoy using it when I have a rental though. I always check the car to ensure it is operational, if not I move on to the next one.

Called to cancel Sirius/XM and it took way too long. Agent kept offering different pricing to retain the business.... much happier with Spotify.

And yesterday get a "Three months free for only $2" mailer from them. LOL.

Just bought a 2018 Porsche, that is a Certified Pre Owned car, so sort of like a new car, the complimentary 3 or 6 month XM sub started up when I bought it.

The catch with the mailing is they will give you 3 free months but you must pay with a CC. I'm sure at the end of three months they will automatically bill you the retail price for the next year.

Ilike the Service but hate the business model.

I just switched my account to a different radio. Used their web app. Took five seconds. OK, maybe ten. Went to the car, used web app to request a radio reboot signal. Worked in a minute. Decided to go for the "all access" level. Used the web app. Painless. They've expanded their musical channels immensely with Pandora. I am a happy user of the service.

Years ago, I was working nights in a bakery, so I bought their pocket sized portable unit. It cost nearly 500 bucks, IIRC. About a year later, they "upgraded" my service so my radio would not work. They did offer a replacement unit, though, for only 650 bucks. Then we did the cancel dance, which ended when I lost patience and cancelled the credit card I had the service with. Never again.

They are fine for upgrades or changes. Impossible to quit. After I spent a solid 30 minutes dropping all units they managed to leave one active but stop billing. If they weren't such epic assholes I would feel bad about still listening to their service when in that car the past 4+ years. There is zero chance I'm calling them back to try to sort THAT out.

My wife bought Mazda CX 5 back in 2013. When the free Sirius time was up, she let it lapse as she only listened to one channel. Six years later, she is still getting cut rate offers in the mail, six months for $5 a month ( of course, they want to charge it to her credit card) and every now and then, she gets two months free.

If you are going to sign up for subscription services that bill monthly to a credit card simply go get a pre paid visa card, put enough funds in it to pay the term membership, when they try to renew it, boom, declined, no funds on account, puts you in control especially if you wish to cancel....

Don't use your debit or regular credit cards...
