We're north of Charleston, Wv., we've kept the faucets & tubs dripping the last 2 days. No warm up til Monday. Several neighbors have frozen pipes. I'd hate to be in their spot, never experienced frozen lines or ones that have cracked. Yikes!!

Local news had a story last night about frozen iguanas in Florida, said they're falling out of the trees. Not necessarily dead, most of them will thaw out and be fine. They said if you come across an iguana laying on the ground not moving, do it a favor and move it into the sun.

Just curious- are iguanas native to FL?
ETA: never mind, googled it. Not.

No shit, I remember as a kid getting tons of snow in the midwest and the great FL orange crop getting frozen over one year.

30's and snow tomorrow, back in the terlit by the weekend.
Sigh.
Is it better than last year, when you went without a winter?
It is Maine, after all.

that always sounds good yet creates a adverse affect down the road. those mild winters are responsible for the huge increase in tick related incidents in the region and beyond.

I lot of those homes were never built to stand these temps. It probably doesn't take much below freezing to affect them.
I was surprised years back when all the pipes froze and broke in my relatives home in Napa, CA.
After this past couple of weeks of frigid, single digit temps in PA, I may have to bust out the Weber, beach chair, shorts and t-shirt and a cold beer!

Seven here too, but I'll wait and wash my car Sunday when it will soar to a sizzling 32. The last time we were above freezing was Dec 22.
Monday we head south to visit pals in AL and then TX.

It was -26 here this morning. I had to decide whether to work in the garage on some equipment or stay inside and start on my business tax return. Easy decision!

It's a sizzling 23 right now in Davenport, going up to 33 later today. It'll be our first time above freezing since Dec 22, I celebrated by taking the CRV thru a car wash!

Careful what you wish for. Double digits go both ways this winter.

I've had negative double digits almost every morning for this stretch when I go out at dawn and thaw out the chickens so I'm well aware
It's going to be in the 30s tomorrow, I'll probably be back in shorts.

Thaw out the chickens??? Are chickens like iguanas, shutting down but not freezing to death?
