From a local place I have bought from many times. It seems they have changed their stance on FFL transfer charges and upped the rate.

"Our administrative fee is $50.00 per serial number for items we do not have in stock or sell, and $100 at our discretion for items we have available for retail sale. The customer will be hit with an additional $25.00 surcharge if the process is done incorrectly or information is excluded".

I thought it was Discount Gun Sales.

They must have changed it recently? The $100 descretion thing wasn't there in July.

They don't have much of a selection so it's probably not a concern.

Most all dealers in this area suck. Wades wants 10% of the guns cost to do a transfer- another dealer that sucks.

This stuff amazes me, especially from the operators that have only one modest size store. They can do as they please but the last time I got the gouge treatment from the one gun store in my area was my last. I buy ammo in 1000 rd lots I just had ghost rings installed on my 870, I had a barrell recrowned on a nice little commander and I have another FFL to receive and I have 220ST's email (among others)

do what you like but figure out it isn't 1955 and business models need to reflect new opportunities.

Pissants.

Have you guys looked at pawn shops in your area? The ones around here are usually more than happy to do really cheap transfers. They don't turn away or sneer at free money.

Just remember: ANYWHERE that sells guns has an FFL and can do transfers. So ask around.

That is absurd. I wouldn't shop there.

One of the places here charges $50 or 10% of the MSRP of the transferred gun. I won't go there.

I love the ones who charge the $100 on Colt ARs because they can order some off brand AR.

Best I can find so far in Orlando is TD Weaponry in Clermont at $25.00, which is about the highest I would consider paying. Haven't found a pawn shop locally that has a transfer license. Still looking, though.

Local Gunsmith used to do em for $20 and then he went out of business a few years back. So I had to start paying $30 to another guy. Still a lot better than 10% of the MSRP. I told the guy that he was out of his mind, and I used to work for him!

That gouging never ceases to amaze me.
Do they think it will make you buy their overpriced merchandise? It just makes me go someplace else to spend my money.

My FFL charges $20 per transfer for everyone. He still only charges you $20 even if you do more than one gun per visit.

I went to a local gunshop and asked if I could do a FFL transfer and he said "sure, what is it?". I told him it was a Sig P229 and his attitude quickly changed and said he sold those and would NOT do a transfer, "if he did that all the time he'd lose business and money" and was very irate with me.

I left, went 3 blocks down the road to another gunshop and he was very cool with it and didn't ask a question of what was coming. Gun came in a week later; gave him the $25 transfer fee and he is the only gunshop I'll patron. The other guy loses out and got all my bad word of mouth.

Sam's in Everett used to charge $40 + tax. I don't know what they charge now.
I use Skagit Pawn in Mount Vernon and couldn't be happier. $25 total and just fantastic people.

For me a pawn shop is the way to go. Years ago I found a local pawn shop guy that does transfers for 20 bucks. Even when having multiple guns transfered. Its cheeper than the fee that my local gun shop was doing it for and they charged per gun.
