I haven't been to Best Buys for years, since I was escorted from the store by security. The FIFTH TIME they pressed me for an extended warranty on the 3k worth of computer shit I was going to buy, I went off. Management said they couldn't tolerate that kind of language and escorted me out.

BTW, the sales staff there aren't on commission, or didn't used to be.

Agreed. At the other extreme, I'm not above calling the store and telling them a customer needs assistance in [location] if I can't find an employee. Lowe's has gotten a lot better about having find-able employees in the last 10 years.

Thanks for the tip on using the app to find stuff.

I went in and bee-lined it to the aisle indicated on the web site. Just as I get there helpy-helperton steps in and asks me what I needed. My bad, i should have said I am all set but I told him what I was after. He tells me I am in the wrong place and takes off like a sprinter to show me where I needed to be. We end up in the cleaning aisle where my product was not anywhere to be found so then I am told they dont stock it. I excused myself, went back to point A, found the little right where the web site said it would be.

I did attempt to show/explain this ti the guy and he was having none of it, told me it shouldnt be there
Walmart's app shows you where items are in their stores as well, but the aisles aren't marked the same way. You have to look for a little tag on the endcap that satires something like G11. It seems a bit less organized but it is Walmart.

I don't mind the "Can I help you?", even multiple people asking the same thing.

The I won't take no for an answer ones are the ones that set me off. Kind of like the car dealership that left me the phone message that they have someone looking for the exact same vehicle that I drive and let's get you into a new one for the same payment B.S.

I politely asked to be removed from the call list as I told the sales manager (so he says) not interested in trading to which he replied "Oh yes you are, you just don't know it!"

Well game on moron! Don't think he liked me too much after that call.

yall know that the greeting and asking is a condition of employment, as in expected, at just about every retailer out there, right?

no company is immune, or rather no corporate company,

they live and breath the VOC (voice of the consumer) or mystery shop reports,

some even have management that is expected to walk around in shifts with a clipboard and fill out a form to document interactions and grade them,, ,coaching as needed,

I don't mind the "hi, are you finding what you need" which is what I get at Home Depot and other stores which I find appropriate. Best Buy, in my experience, goes way beyond that in annoyance and is a good reason I have not been in one for a couple years and others such as poor selection, high prices, out of items in their ad, very slow checkout, and badgering on extended warranty.

If I ever go into one again I will tell the helpful person "sorry I can't hear very well due to a nasty viral infection, do you have any surgical masks?".

They are special-order items at Lowes and Home Depot, but I have found that most Ace and True Value stores keep them in stock.

I don't mind a quick check like that and them accepting a "no thanks just looking around right now". And don't try to sell me what I am looking at, unless I ask you about it. More annoying to me is when you need someone and they are not available.
