He's the one who extended DST, he gets the blame!

It couldn't be Daylight Savings Time in the middle of winter. DST starts in Spring and ends in Fall.

Spring forward, fall back.
Spring forward, fall back.
Spring forward, fall back.

How about we just split the difference: fall back a half-hour this time around, and LEAVE IT THERE.

I've had enough of this spring forward, fall back nonsense.

Ah yes, DST (Daylight Saving Time). An outdated mode of keeping time still used because people still think it ups production. We don't need it in the modern age of the light bulb, all it does is give most of us a headache twice a year. Get rid of it.

All that happens is that my bloody cat wakes me up one hour earlier for her grub - apparently it doesn't adjust to the change too quickly (if ever)....

How about it making it safer for school kids walking to school or waiting on the bus? But of course some people only think about how it affects their simple life. And seriously, how long has this country been doing this. Get over it people, and learn how to set a clock twice a year.

Um....that defeats your own argument...almost all of the school year is when DST is not even in effect...as in "real time". And the very shortest day of this entire year the sun rises at 7:21 am and sets at 5:05. Well within school hours.

To hell with Daylight Saving Time.

DST is the stupidest concept ever sold to the masses. No daylight is saved, the sun is up the same amount of time regardless of how the clock is set.

There is absolutely no logical reason to reset clocks twice a year.

If simpletons want to believe there is some advantage to doing this exercise in stupidity twice a year then that is their choice, but they are only proving their own ignorance by defending that belief.

Just pick one and stick with it.
When I look around, it seems to me that we live in pretty much a 24hr society. So does it really matter how much daylight one set of folks have (I happen to work nights)?
And to all those who say "If you want more daylight, get up an hour earlier"
Well, that would work great, but businesses open/close (the ones that still 'close', that is) at a certain time, no matter what time the sun rises/sets.
So, IMHO, pick one, either one, and lets get on with our lives.
*(actually, I think the advanced races are not waiting for us to perfect space travel, or FTL travel before they make contact. They are waiting to see when we give up this spring forward/fall back thing) Razz

If you want more daylight either get up earlier or move closer to the equator. stop changing the the clock for the rest of us.

Not in New England... in winter it's pitch-ass dark at 4:00pm. I went to MA for a training course last december and it blew my mind how early the sun set.

I like DST. It finally gives us something to have a meaningful and heartfelt discussion about here on Sigforum. Razz

We should stay on the 'spring forward' time schedule

But "our society" didn't come up with the idea of daylight saving time, unless we are talking about 1895 New Zealand. The USA didn't hop on the bandwagon until 1918 in an effort to save coal

Its not too late to get you booked for training in Alaska. Night lasts months up there. So it doesn't matter if its December, January, you name it.

DST is worthless. Farmers hate it because nature doesn't care about our clocks. Animals go by sun rise and sun set, not some artificial construct.

DST essentially means noon is at 11am. Nothing more.
