is this not the dumbest thing our society has ever come up with?

If you want more daylight, wake up earlier.

do people really turn off the lights during daylight hours? I know i dont. i cant think of any business that does except massage parlors. maybe the amish that have left the fold. I bet we dont save a single dime from this shit.

I am late for work twice a year because of this foolishness. I say we abolish this nonsense.

I love it. I hate it getting dark at 4:30 PM. I think we should make daylight savings time permanent.

Technically you should be late once per year and early once per year.

I agree though with the notion it should be abolished. Just pick forward, back or some other time and stick with it throughout the year.

Yeah, you should only be late once a year.
Big Grin

I agree with Kevin. I think it should just be permanent. In the winter, I go to work in the dark and go home in the dark. I work ten hour days.

I'm underground all day, too.

I agree. I love MDT, dark at 4:30 in the afternoon is just baloney. We should be on Daylight Savings all year round.

Funny, I thought when I moved to AZ that DST would be behind me, and it is if you're only talking to/interacting with people and events within AZ. But when I deal with anyone outside the state, I have to make allowances (let's see, is MD now three hours ahead of me, or only two). Meeting times with my job in MD: they have a 9 o'clock meeting I attend, which is now 6:00am for me half the year, and 7:00am for me the other half. But, in all, I really like seeing the seasonal changes in the earth's relationship with the sun, which DST sort of masks from you when it's imposed on your daily routine. Not having any DST is the way it should be.

Hate the time change as well. This time of year I leave in the dark at 5:30AM CST and drive in the dark, then leave work in the dark @ 5:00PM CST.

Sucks ass.

Some times it scares me to know we allow people who can't set their clocks twice a year to own guns. Daylight savings time happens. Prepare for it. Live it. This ain't rocket surgery or brain science.

I learned something new this year. I always thought that DST began and ended at midnight. I used to think I was funny when I'd go into 24 Hour Fitness the Sunday of the clock change and ask them, "Is it 23 Hour Fitness today? Or 25 Hour Fitness?"

Yeah, they didn't think it was funny either. But anyway, I learned it starts / ends at 0200 on the day of the clock change, not midnight. Who knew?

I'll go with "Anyone who has glanced at the graphic on the front of the Saturday or Sunday paper twice a year" for $100, Alex!

I really don't care, but the lights in my office are off almost all of the time and I like it that way at home too.

You know who doesn't use daylight savings time? Lions, that's who. When it's time to go kill some shit they just wake up and get to it. None of this, 'Oh no, it's dark out! Must be to early to hunt down and mangle a Gazelle with my powerful jaws.', horse crap. Day or night, if shit needs to get done, they get it done.

If standard time is good enough for a lion, it's damn-sure good enough for me!

I don't have an issue with it. I can adjust fairly easily. However my dog's bladder doesn't.

So when he would wake me up at 05:30, it will now be 04:30. At least I am used to walking him in the dark.

I'm glad we have it. Even during daylight savings it's dark by about 4:00 or 4:30 in the afternoon up here in the middle of winter.

I'm bummed that it falls on Halloween, this year. That extra hour of sleep is shot! I blame Georgie for extending the period.
