Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

It's an extension to Lifeline and Link-Up, Reagan era programs to provide assistance to low income households with assistance in getting phone lines. It's opening up cell phones as an option. You can't get both - either cell or home.

Link-Up provides up to $30 to set up a line and Lifeline provides $10/month toward a phone bill. The cell provider set up a plan that cost $30 to set up and charge $10/month for the 68 minutes (or whatever) of airtime.

So, it sounds like, for some people, this is replacing a 25 year old benefit for landlines with an equal benefit for cell phones.

That is just bull shit. President Reagan reformed welfare in an effort to get people to take care of themselves and now we’re moving backwards. I thought liberals were supposedly progressive not regressive. It makes me want to quit my job (if I wouldn’t have got laid off this month) and suck on the welfare tit; the only problem is I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror each morning. I haven’t even filed for unemployment yet.

I never felt like paying the bill to get a cell phone. I felt like I could use my money on better things. So I have never had one. Damn, I must be a fool.

When this started it was used phones for abused women and they were programed to call 911 only.

I kinda see this some what. It is hard to get a job if you don't have a call back number. I use my parents number for my always there number and cell phone for temp access.

Any cell phone that is deactivated will dial 911.

No. It's evil. Obama must be blamed.

That's what they do around my town. Go to the same places that they know are not hiring, so they can get their "checks" from the state.

Years ago I worked my tail off to provide for my wife and two daughters, and broke 25,000.00 for the first time. I was pretty proud of myself. And yes, it was WORK. Hard physical labor. Then, on a walk around the pond with my dad, I learned that his wife's step daughter made about 38,000.00 for SITTING ON HER BIG ASS and crying about how her three kids (ALL THREE OF THEM) were disabled, and how she HAD to stay home and watch them, and couldn't POSSIBLY work for a living. I'll never forget the taste that conversation left in my mouth. Sorta like dry horseshit, I imagine.
PS Did I forget to mention how the state was BUILDING HER A NEW HOUSE BECAUSE HER OLDEST CHILD, DEFECTIVE BECAUSE HE WAS CONCIEVED BY TWO PEOPLE USING HARD DRUGS, WAS ALLERGIC TO THE OLD HOUSE THAT YOU AND I WERE ALREADY PAYING FOR?????
pps I'm not knocking the kid. Not his fault.

The Love Bandit. I gave her everything but my 226....
