There’s a Change.org petition “ We demand that the Federal government provide test kits for the novel coronavirus in sufficient numbers to identify people with disease and begin containment of the epidemic.”

Pure nanny state, entitlement, divorced from reality, delusional thinking.

Type in “covid test kit shortage” and you discover there’s a shortage of the regents (chemicals) needed for the test. The regents are produced in Europe by several plants. News flash! There aren’t stockpiles of kids hidden in government warehouses.

Change.org is set up so you can only vote “for” the petition. Which means thousands will, nod knowingly, hit “sign this petition” and think the kits will arrive Monday.

I’m about to start a petition that reads “ We demand that the Federal government provide toilet paper in sufficient numbers to provide people with sufficient supplies to end the shortage! ”

Another issue is the test kit processing throughput at certified labs. You can have all the test kits you want, but they can only be processed at a certain rate.

These idiots don't have a clue.

What’s the big deal about testing? They say ‘80% will have mild symptoms’? If one tests positive, then what? The what is, besides the normal flu?

Isn’t one going to stay home, rest, & recover anyway? What does it matter if you have Corona or regular flu?

The test itself isn’t the beat all & end all.

There seems to be a number of people that “know” they “have the Corona.” For some reason they still want the test to, what? “Prove” it?

If you spend any time in emergency rooms, you encounter many people with “URIs” upper respiratory infections. Imagine how many people will want a COVID test. There are certain symptoms that indicate it’s the virus. OK do the test. Someone presents with a cold and wants the test? Naw.

It's pretty much everywhere so no real need to randomly test everyone. Test the people who are sick to properly triage their condition and needs to best prioritize the use of resources.

Seems the history of the test kits is convoluted. A researcher in Washington! Back in January, was taking nasal swabs and asked to make a test for COVID-19. CDC turned her down as her lab wasn’t approved. CDC then developed its own test but it was flawed. One of the ingredients is manufactured in Europe and the plants are going 24/7 for domestic use. Now, as I understand it CDC is letting US labs make the tests.

Not that the dims want to admit it, but the government regulations delayed fielding the kits.

Currently the Tests can tell if you Have it or not. If people don't know they'll go out and spread it \ If they know they should self quarantine.

Waiting on the Test that shows if you've Had it. This will let you know if you have immunity and are safe to go about your business- You can't catch it and won't spread it.
