"IN THE HOLE"
I am done with watching televised golf until the the USGA does something about these slack-jawed mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging assholes who feel the need to scream "IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" every time someone swings the club.

Doesn't matter that it's a 495 yard par 5 and he's teeing off no longer than 300(ish), yep...you assholes have to scream, "IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!".

What in the hell is with you people? Really! Do you not get that you are seen as a complete friggin moron, or is it that you just don't care?

Screw it! I'm done.

Between that and having the networks follow Tiger Woods and only Tiger Woods all day long despite the fact that he's roughly 10 strokes back with no chance whatsoever to win, I'm sick of watching golf...as much as I love it.

unfortunately golf is trendy.

I prefer tennis, both to watch and play.

When Fox won the US Open rights, by default Joe Buck became the lead announcer. In some cases I kinda like Buck but he's most surely not a golf guy. The rest of the Fox golf announce team do pretty good work, all Buck ever contributes is "What a shot!!" Well, that and an occasional irrelevant baseball analogy. Roll Eyes

They just don't care. Gone are the days of golf being "the civilized sport" -- the one that could lull a fellow into a nap on a nice quiet afternoon. The most noise created on the course back then was the periodic "golf clap." Now it's like a bunch of Barneys* at the bar.

Savages.

I had this same exact rant twenty years ago. Honestly, to the letter. I see not much has changed.

Who does this? The groupies audience? Surely not the players. (You can tell I don't watch golf on TV. I have vague memories of subdued "Ohhhs!" when the ball didn't go into the hole, or equally subdued applause when it did.)

They should all be escorted off the course and never be allowed on another golf course.

In the old days, nbc would play fake bird noises in the background to enhance the programming.

Now every tee box...com’on Tiger, you da man, and at least (3) get it in the hole comments. I guess this is what one does after 4 hours of drinking beer while watching 3 guys hit a golf ball every 8 minutes. Couldn’t pay me to be a spectator.

I just turn down the volume, and surf on my iPad.

Watching golf, almost as much fun as I have had watching paint dry.

Agreed, about 1 in 10 tourney's are fun to watch on the last day, but those are rare.

Golf courses are a waste of a perfectly good rifle range! Wink

As has been said a hundred times before. Wink

Ahh, not busting your chops too much, but there are those of us who love the game, sport, challenge,...whatever you want to call it.

There's nothing like it us, and to see this "gentleman's game" ruined by a bunch of redneck jerks is quite frustrating to say the least.

I've played the game for 30+ years and I adore it. I get how some don't. I couldn't give two shits about NASCAR and watching Billy Bob drive around in circles a couple hundred times, so...yeah.

There's just something about golf that those of us who love it get and those who don't don't.

I was one of those people that couldn't understand the appeal of golf until I took it up. I became addicted to the game and was lucky enough to have golfed courses all over the country on the companies dime that I worked for. Many of them were top 100 courses in the country. I no longer play due to physical issues but I do enjoy watching it. I understand Gustofer's annoyance with some of the idiots in the crowd, but I have the ability to just blow it off without detracting me from the game.

As a side note, there are few things more satisfying than hitting a perfect golf shot on a difficult hole. 1 shot can make a whole round worthwhile.

Jim
