Have you ever just woke up pissed at the world?

Not just on the wrong side of the bed or slept badly or grumpy, but just with this pure anger inside of you?

Woke up at 7 this morning to this feeling.... still with me at 4 in the afternoon. Kids in the neighborhood with their little rice bombs zipping around, blaring some thug-wanna be moronic rap music. The dog deciding to burrow into carpet, blinds being rattled around by the wind, the radio going haywire, and nothing else going right.

I've never had this feeling of sheer rage go through me. This anxious deep down pissed off feeling. I have no clue what to do, as I've done my 6 mile loop of running, taken a hot shower, and put down some 18 year old kid with his ghetto ricer honda civic so hard that it looked like the little tough fella was going to cry.

I have no idea what to do to get rid of this crap. Wife knows I'm upset and I'm just trying to keep anything from spilling on to her... She's done nothing wrong.

Raining out now, so I can't head off to the range.

Maybe I just need a long drive and to ride the car hard and burn up a tank of gas.

But Gosh Almighty... I've never just woke up and had near 10 hours of anger.

What the heck do you guys do to get rid of that feeling?

I do on occasion have those days. Explain it to the wife and just curl up with her to watch TV or watch the kids play. Only solution I've found is to indulge in comfort.

Your senario describes my day on Thursday. I woke up with some industrial grade hate and couldn't shake it most of the day. Luckily, most folks left me alone that day and the one phone call I did take was from a very good friend who managed to cheer me up before the end of the call.

No they can't. They only have the power to make you feel bad or have a bad day of you allow them to do so.

Simply don't allow them to do so. Only you can give them that power. Only you can deny them the power.... Wink

My wife calls this having a man period. Says I get em about twice a year, when I've had enough of being Mr Nice guy.

I can't say I have ever woken up in the morning angry at anyone or anything in particular. I have, however, got up with a "Don't give a F$ck" attitude. And I could care less about what happened about pretty much anything that day. And I had no problem telling anyone that either. Sometimes I get in that "bad mood" but not very often, dunno why either, just one of them things..

I make an effort every single day to put myself in a good mood. I've always kind of figured if my elbows aren't hitting wood, then it's gonna be a good day.

I may hate getting up way before the crack of dawn, but I'm not pissed at the world. It takes time to set the tenor of the day.

+1: once that throttle opens up...my worries melt away. By far, the best therapy I've ever been given. During the winter, I hunt....hours spent with a bow in a tree stand have the same effect, nothing else bothers me.

Your feelings pretty much sum up how i feel all the time. Bummer i know. Best way to get rid of it i found is to immerse yourself into something you love. Mine is exercise, tinkering with weapons, electronics or mechanical things. I find that those control the 'rage' best. As i have gotten older i have found that it is easier to let things go as well. Which is a good thing.

It happens, man. Keep a handle on it, and don't take it out on family members.

Go find a rerun of Scooby Doo -- hearing Scooby's goofy giggle is a good way to lighten things up. (I assigned that sound clip to the Windows Start on my work PC. It helps.)

I head for the garage when I get my "man period." There's not always a lot I can get done there, due to lack of focus, but it at least gets me to a space where I can let the steam out without ruining the furniture.

I had a day like that at work recently. I considered dropping a note in the suggestion box, asking for a tetherball out back -- with a 50' rope, tied to the bottom of the post instead of the top. That way we could have something to kick the crap out of, without hurting anything permanently.

Got mountains? (I do.) As time allows, a trip to the top (a long trail hike, or a drive to a scenic overlook) can help change the focus and give a "bigger picture" view of things.

Final thought: there are two printed bookmarks on my desk at work. One attributes its quote to Benjamin Franklin, the other to a Chinese proverb. I can't ever remember which is which, but the message is the important part: "whatever is begun in anger, will end in shame."

Good luck to ya. Having the anger is one thing... how you manage it is another.
