Am I wrong to be pissed?
I buy a brand new (not even on display) Wingmaster Classic Trap (this may be an 870, but it's an 870 with a $1024 MSRP)
I get on the firing line and notice the front bead is way off center.
I send the barrel to Remington. They replace it with an entirely different model of barrel. Not as nice. I don't like it as much. Not as suitable for trap.
I call Remington. The Classic Trap barrels were discontinued this year, they have none left, and they threw away my old barrel.
Given that they had my phone number and e-mail address, shouldn't they have contacted me first? I'd gladly have taken my old barrel over this one.

Fuck Remington. i will never buy from them again after they took my money for 2 1/2 months for a Remington 1187P 14" and then decided they dont sell "police items" to "civilians".

well Remington I got one anyway. And I will never buy new products from you again. FU

Uhhh, i'd be pretty pissed too.

A non-stock barrel replacement when the proper fix would be to reposition the sight? And now you can't get the original bbl back to have a real 'smith fix it for you. Bogus.

One thing I'll state in their defense, to see if that changes anything. This barrel costs more than the original one (then again, maybe they just raised their prices who knows). That said, it's not as suitable for trap and the gun is called the classic TRAP (that and the horizontal striping on the rib isn't nearly as nice as the cross hatching on the rib of the original barrel)

Also, I've been trying to find one at a retailer that I can just pay out of pocket for. I've tried Midway, Numrich, and TJ General Supply. Any other ideas?

I would demand a refund for the purchase and find a Browning BT-99 Last I saw they were about $1000 assuming all you need it for is trap

I have put over 10,000 rounds through my citori O/U (full/modified) for trap and skeet. Its been a great gun While I was still shooting allot my ATA average was around 95

I can't get a refund from the store - I couldn't find a Wingmaster Classic Trap locally, and Remington said no distributor would have any, so I ordered from Bud's. Because I missed the defect in the store, once I accepted the transfer Bud's has a no-refund policy.

I highly doubt Remington will refund me my purchase price.

I guess I could claim breach of warranty, and rightfully so, but it's not going to be worth it on an item with an $850 street price. It's too bad. I really liked my new gun. Now every time I look at it my first thought is "damn it." It wouldn't be SOOOOO bad if it had reasonable beads (instead of a tiny and too low mid bead and a huge and too high front bead), so maybe a gunsmith can recover some of my enjoyment.

I have an e-mail into corporate, we'll see what they do. I'll say this much - if they don't make this right by me, it'll be my final Remington purchase, including ammo, and I'll let them know as much.

It would make a great difference IF it was what you wanted. Keep pushing, be reasonable, and tell them what you expect. If they deferred to the retailer from the get go it would be on Bud’s but they offered to make it right and they darn well should!

Check with Sig in Exeter. They've probably got one in their warehouse.

Naw, I checked, they stumbled across 714 P210s under a tarp in a shed that they forgot they had, but no new-old-stock remington barrels

Check Gunbroker, there are a few new 870 Wingmaster barrels for sale. Look under "Firearm Parts & Accessories>Shotgun Parts>Barrels"

Remington completely lost my interest when I handled a new 770. It is a total POS.

Thanks. Unfortunately, none are the one I'm looking for. It's just my luck that this barrel is discontinued and none are left in stock, but was made recently enough that it's still on their price list.

If they can't replace it with a comparable piece, I'd demand an upgrade. It's not your fault if the piece they choose to replace it is not comparable, and since they have nothing that is they should upgrade it to something as good or better as the original.

Isn't the 770 the gun that comes with a scope for around $300? You can't expect too much at that price but I've killed deer with them.

Well, they consider this making me full. The MSRP on this barrel is $72 more than the old barrel (not sure why because the old barrel was not only more suitable for trap but just plain nicer). I'm not going to get anywhere with them on that, and it's not worth filing suit (though, really, the limited warranty has failed its essential purpose here and I consider them to be in breach - they ought to at least change the beads for me to ones that would make it more suitable for trap).

I decided to clean the grease off it and just live with it...and of course, my luck, there's a thin, but 1.5" long, scratch going through the bluing.

At least this time they're sending the new barrel without waiting to get the old one back.

Hey on this barrel the bead touches the receiver (and is what stops the barrel from going further back). The old barrel didn't do this, nor does the 870 of anybody I've asked. Is this a problem?
