why in the world are you guys using ide for server class machines? Why are the drives not , at very least, in a raid 0 array?

not to be the bearer of bad news, but i'd be fired immediately for planning that poor.

At the time it was all about $$$.
Cheap cheap cheap.
I fought for a high end server but got told what to put together by the owners years ago.
It was supposed to be a temporary server for noncritical storage.
I was moved from the position and hired others to fill my old spot.

So now the person who was SUPPOSED to clean up and maintain this stuff has failed to do their job.
ALL of this data was supposed to be migrated to the new 4 terabyte server.
But heaven forbid he actually have to do something.

He just drove up. This is gonna be the highlight of my day.

So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause.

Now that I look....MRMATT, that is kindof an odd sig line. What does that mean anyway? I'm just curious, just seems like a kindof strange thing to put as a signature.

Well that got ugly.
Don't come in reeking of pot and call me dude.
I do not care that you were not feeling well after drinking at the Braves game.
Everyone else showed up on time.

And going to my boss, the owner, won't help.(oh that was a scream, try and circumvent me)
He told me to handle it however I wanted.
So I promoted Jerry. Give your key to Jerry.
Clean out your desk. Go see Pam for your last paycheck.

You're 32, it's time to grow up.

SJ,
It refers to a family tragedy that occurred early this year. I'll change it eventually.

Well, indeed! If it means anything, my sincere condolences and I apologize for bringing it up. I kinda figured it it was something to that affect. Just most everyone has something funny or witty in thier sig line and your's...well... caught me off guard. Again, please accept my apology if I have caused any undue grief.

SC-Does this mean there's an opening in Atlanta?

No, no openings as of yet.
Maybe after the first of the year.
Maybe.

We've been through 9 people this year alone.
From sales to customer service.(some cut, some quit)
We're down to 73 people now.

So the Cockatoo is turning into a Banning Eagle? Wink Good Riddance and Good Bye to the IT Guy. The only thing I hate worse than a useless employee/co-worker is a useless employee/co-worker who causes me to do their job. If I have to cover for you then you are not going to be drawing a paycheck.

Somebody else may get it tomorrow.
You make my job harder than it has to be, then I don't need you.
I have literally 20 resumes in my desk.
Things are tight at the shop and I don't need ANY unnecessary expenses.
I get bitched at when that happens.

I've seen him walk up to a sleeping employee and poke him and say "Hey Rip Van Winkle, didn't you used to work here?" and then tell him to leave the premises.

Ah the joys of working for a small company. How I miss that sometimes. It was fun getting to do everything, but when it hit the fan I'd stay until things were put right again.

Sometimes there is a benefit to working for a large comapny.

Yeah, I drive about an hour into work every morning.
Things are "strange" here right now.
Everything is rush rush, the sales people are driving the owners nuts.
Which translates to me trying to shove a grapefruit through a soda straw.
Then the last thing I need is a slacker not pulling their weight.
I stayed late and asked others to stay also.
I know who I can depend on to take initiative and who needs to be constantly held by the hand.
And I just don't have time.
