Buying a new washer/dryer. Shopped a bunch. Found a set I liked at BestBuy for a good price. Also have a BB CC, so 24 mos. 0% financing going on now, which makes me happy because our new house has been a bit of a money pit.

Anyhoo... Mrs.BurtonRW and I seldom dry our regular clothes with heat to minimize shrinking, so the "timed dry" cycle is very important to us. With everything being digital these days, I can't just look at a dial and see what the maximum timed dry setting is, so that's my question - how long is it? If it's 20-30 minutes, that's a non-starter and I'll go back to GE which has a 80-90 minute timed dry cycle on most models. Of course, the owner's manual is silent on such details, so I'll go straight to the source.

Live Chat attempt #1... "Your wait time is approx. 35 minutes". No problem. I just leave it there in the background while I work. About 50 minutes later and I'm down to a 2 minute wait... then 1 minute... then disconnected. F#&!.

Live Chat attempt #2... repeat as above. Double F#&!.

Call the 800 number, put the hold music on speaker, and get to listen to some admittedly not bad top 40 from the 80s through the early 2000s. Only problem is, they have about 9 songs on rotation. I was on hold for nearly 50 minutes before a nice lady picks up and hearing why I'm calling, advises that I need to talk to the sales people. (This is the main Customer Service number from the website that I called, mind you.) Thank God she can transfer me instead of giving me a new number to call.

Back to the same Top 40 rotation.

That was now over an hour ago. I'm thinking I'm lost in the VOIP cloud, but it took her a little less time to pick me up the first time, so I'm not hanging up until I have to leave the office.

It's like they don't want my money or something.

UPDATE:

I stayed on hold and after about 1:10 from when CS transferred me to sales, I was told (rather curtly), by the DIRECT SALES representative that she "isn't a technician" and "only knows what's in the manual". She suggested I try Customer Service.

What the holy fuck, Batman?!

I'm about done. Wish I could return the Whirlpool suite I just installed in the new kitchen.

Back to the drawing board. Whirlpool doesn't deserve another penny of my money.

Sounds like it would be quicker to have one of the BestBuy dudes run the cycle and time it for you!

Why would I want to look at the owners manual again?

my bad I missed the part where you said you looked at the manual,

Why not start the unit turn on the timer on your phone and time it with it unloaded. The only thing that would then change the run time would be if it has sensors it uses to adjust the in use run time.

Just a thought, if you do Facebook...
I would try messaging them, they do have a Facebook page.

Many companies are relying on social media and chat more and more these days.

After having trouble getting a vacuum cleaner (not a Whirlpool) warrantee issue sorted by phone I messaged them and within ten minutes I had a new one on the way...

A lot of companies have closed call centers, blaming Covid. A Verizon center that employed hundreds 24/7 near by is vacant. You can still see the big call waiting screens that are hung from the ceiling are still on through the windows but the parking lot is completely empty.

If it ain't woke... don't fix it.

I can totally relate with the frustration on the first two calls.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
