So..... what would be the pros, and cons, of Pres Trump creating a "temporary" policy that any armed Iranian boats that come within xx yards of any US Navy Ship, will be immediately destroyed without a warning shot. He could say that this is just "temporary" policy until he can finish studying the Iranian situation, and can come up with a more "permanent" solution.

Why is that so bad ? It just SEEMS to me, in my tiny feeble mind, that it would work pretty damn good. I learned that in the schoolyard, worked EVERY SINGLE TIME for me.

I understand the sentiment, but it would be a bad precedent, breaking long standing codes of conduct for professional militaries.

Having said that, I have no problem with the warning shot, when possible, extending out further than the current Commander in Chief wishes, then promptly following it up with accurate fire.

A warning shot to the bridge would be effective.

That sounds acceptable, it's just one extra step, since there's only two instead of one.

Temporary, huh? Sounds pretty permanent to me. But I like it. Look, they know harassing other navies is a risky business. Anybody here know why they don't play that game with the Ruskies? Hint, the Rusky's lack a sense of humor. For reference, go find the clip of the pirates trying that. Didn't end well for them, but it did end.

I would hope that if an Iranian round ever nicks the paint of a US Navy warship in international waters that not a single one of the Iranian boats makes it back to home port...sink 'em where they are.

I imagine if you targeted the bridge of one vessel with a missile or cannon, it would give the rest of the enemy vessels suitable warning of your intent to defend your vessels.

Any Iranian naval vessels or aircraft get within their weapons range of one of our ships or aircraft get one warning. After that, they are fair game.
