Change is hard. When I moved to Tennessee, all the stuff I thought I didn't like turned out to be just things I wasn't used to. Most of them turned out to be WAY better.

I hate what happened to Arizona. Prescott was one of my favorite towns in the West; I went to junior college there. Unrecognizable

TELL IT!

We get transplants from Oakland County that come here and complain about the traffic, taxes, crime, all the same stuff others have said. Then turn around and want to change this area to mirror where they came from.

Traffic is a mess downtown. Between the Priuses self-righteously going slow, and the multitude of pedestrians who keep pushing the button to get a walk signal (which results in a longer red light), you can take 30 minutes to go 4 blocks. I always enter Prescott (only when I need to) via Iron Springs Road, which hits the northwest side. Easy transition to AZ69 if you need to go out that way to Prescott Valley, avoiding downtown. It's also an easy shortcut to Chino Valley. Too many CA refugees making it a liberal hotbed.

he said that in the 9 years we lived there,
45,000 single family homes were built in Maricopa county

I hate to read what has happened to Prescott. I lived there in '89 & '90 and really liked the area. Spent more money than I should at J&G, that's for sure. Kept thinking I'd go back and revisit but now I'll give that idea a pass.

What is there in the town or area that caused such abnormal (Leftist) growth?

We plan on moving to Arizona soon. WE will NOT be making it a 'liberal hotbed' Guys and gals, you have no idea what it is like to live in Kalifornia. This is a nice place to live for the weather and that's about it.

We pay our 2k for health insurance.
But wait, your "illegal" or destitute? well we will give you FREE health insurance.

But wait, does your Governor go down to 3rd world countries and encourage immigration? California does!

But wait, gas, electric, food, etc. costs are thru the roof here. Are they in yours? probably not.

But wait, the power companies electric lines spark devastating fires that burn towns down. Lucky for them California's Governor passed a law were WE the ratepayers have to pay more to put money into the 'fire fund' to bail out the Power companies.

I can go on but you get the picture. I spent many a summer in Chandler, Az with great grandmother growing up. I consider myself tied to Arizona. When we move we will do nothing but scream with delight to escape this shithole of a state.

So please, don't include me in that group that wants to move to another state and bring my views and change things to my way. We just want to escape the madness.

Anybody currently in the Prescott area and would like to email me offline with pros/cons I would look forward to hearing from you.

I've gotten to know the alleys and back streets pretty well to avoid some of the traffic and pedestrians, especially during lunch hour. If you're smart you don't go out during morning crush hour, lunch hour, or evening crush hour.

Between the traffic on two lane roads and ongoing two year construction projects on most north-south and east-west roads to support the hundreds of homes being built on former desert land (hundreds of native antelopes have been removed), it's frustrating. We get our water from ground water/reservoirs. If Flagstaff hasn't received a good winter snow, that effects what flows down to us. That's another sore subject.

To avoid Prescott and Prescott Valley stop lights every block, we use SR89A to Fain Rd which bypasses to the north. The round-a-bouts they're building everywhere don't do much good to relieve congestion.

If you're moving here to avoid snow, we usually get only 3-4" of snowfall. But last year we received 22" of snow over 4 days. The county came to a stand still, not enough trucks to remove it so businesses stayed closed.

Twenty years here and still love the area over anywhere else in the state. But, we're selling off 2+ acres of our 4+ acres. We're considering finding someplace else with a lot less people.

Yavapai County is one of the largest counties in the US. The current population of the county is approximately 230,000.

Real good friend of mine just got back from there last week. Ret Sgt out of 022. Loves it there.

Looks like there's a lot of us headed to the great state of Tn. Wy is another option that I'm looking at.

I moved to Las Vegas from Connecticut, and grew up in New York. I hate the draconian bullshit government they have there. Nevada is lost to the fucking Californians. if they'd let me shoot them I would.

My sentiments are ALWAYS appreciated by the local natives.

If you plan to settle in Arizona, avoid Tucson. It's becoming S.F. east.

Those leaving and turning other states into Lefty/Liberal enclaves are merely parasites. The CDC defines parasite as " an organism that lives on or in a host organism and gets its food from or at the expense of its host."

Having drained the host (their last state) of all common sense, liberty, low-taxation, freedom, 2nd Amendment protections etc., they move on to NEW hosts.

It's the cycle of life. The only thing that stops parasites is to kill them. When you attempt to kill off and rid a state of parasites, they release an increased amount of toxins as they die off. If you have an invasive infection and the parasite forms a cyst or a lump, doctors may prescribe an anthelmintic drug to shrink the mass. This is a type of antiparasitic medication. Sometimes, doctors recommend surgery to remove a large cyst or lump.

My reason for this thread was to suggest that where ever you move to, assimilate into the community. If you're going to whine about it, feel free to leave and find someplace that suits you.

If it were up to me, the refugees who flee the shitholes wouldn't be allowed to vote in any elections for 5 years after they've established residency. That's how they change the good areas into the same dumps they left.

The climate is nice. You do get some snow in the winter, but otherwise year-round it is very nice. The wife and I started looking at the Prescott area in the late 1990's when we were searching for AZ land to build on. The CA refugees, with tons of money from the sale of their overly expensive CA houses, were already invading even back then, and bringing their liberal ideas with them. Out priced, we looked further south, but north of PHX, and ended up in Wickenburg. It remains a small town, mostly retirees, but we are also just beginning to see some tract (Trilogy) housing being developed and sold. We have excellent basic health care, and a hospital with a full suite of diagnostic equipment and an outpatient surgery center. I had my total knee replacement done right here in town.

Are these people from Canada?

We get a lot of Canadians in Florida. Some developments fly a Canadian flag and my kids said if Canada is so great, why do they come here?
