First, for a lightning deal, you show the regular price of an item as some jacked up price, that the item never was, and then tell me I'm saving $25 in the lightening deal. When the deal is over, the item goes back to the actual regular price which is really only about $10 above the lightning deal price.

That's deceptive, maybe not legally, but morally.

I chose 2 day prime shipping, and now you say the package is going to be one or two days late.

You suck.

What the heck a I getting for my $99 / year or whatever it is for Prime now days?

Amazon is close to losing me as a Prime customer.
I don’t stream their music, and there is little on Amazon’s movie streaming service that I can’t get elsewhere.
Very few packages lately have been here within the same week, much less “two day”.

And prices? Yes, I have noticed that the deals just aren’t there anymore. Unless it is some specialty item that I can not get locally, I can very often find a better price locally.

Yeah, late (beyond two-day) shipping seems to be happening more frequently in recent months, but I'm still a loyal customer. Living nearly 90 minutes from any decent shopping opportunities makes Amazon invaluable to me. Name me somewhere else that I can buy everything from instant coffee to garage door openers and have both delivered to my front door in two days for free. I'm happy to give them a little latitude, especially this time of year.

Yup, what Gustofer said.

What I save in fuel and wear and tear more than makes up for the annual fee. If I took the truck, one round trip to the nearest mall is $30 in gas alone. Plus I always have one or two movies or shows in queue.

Also, I'd WAY rather sit in front of my computer in my skivvies and surf than wander from store to store in a crowd of people looking for something.

Perfect? No.

Deal of the Century? No.

Convenient? Betcherass.

I’ll stay too...

Just this morning I ordered two shower valve replacement stems.

Home Depot, $25
Amazon, $20

I need two...so there’s $10 towards the fee right there in one sale.

And I don’t have to go to HD and deal with mouth-breathers.

I had no clue Maine was that desolate. I can get to at least 15 different malls on $30 worth of gas (likely more than that). Heck some days for work I go to three or four different malls.

Here's the kick in the nuts for me I HATE malls and crowds, yet our work load in them this time of year doubles. So I'm forced to go during worst shopping days of the year and am not even buying anything.

If you have a package that was promised in two days when you ordered it and it is beyond the two days you can email Amazon customer service and they will extend your prime membership one month for free. I believe you can do this up to once a month, so if you really have that many late packages you won't be paying for prime at all!

For me its prompt if not early ,being stingy the price beats the box stores around me and I get the exact item I want without driving all over hells acker.

Nearest Mall worthy of the name is in Bangor. 57.4 miles minimum, one way. 115 miles round trip at 15mpg is 7.67 gallons at $2.559 per works out to $19.xx so I over-estimated. 3 hours on the road on a good day.

Once you get North of Augusta, Maine is pretty sparsely populated (just the way I like it) and cities big enough to support a decent sized mall are DARN few and far between. In fact, I'm fairly certain Bangor is the only one. Small one in Machias, possibly one in Fort Kent.

I hate that Bezos is such a fucking lib, BUT, I have made huge money on their stock and my whole family uses my Prime account. So for the moment, its worth it.

<EDIT> Their "two Day" Prime delivery is, in most cases, not any longer. I suspect this has to do with the vendors that hide under Amazon's coat tails.

Well since the extent of my knowledge about Maine comes from reading Stephen King novels, I'd say it's pretty limited. I wish I lived somewhere a little more remote though.

I haven't had deliveries two days late, yet, but I have had a couple that were a day late.

Then there's USPS' tracking. Twice, lately, showing delivery would be a day late, then delivering on-time, with no status update re: "Out for delivery."

It's still a good deal, but they're trying my patience.

If they're not careful, somebody will step up and give them come competition.

I haven't had any shipping difficulties or delays, but I probably don't buy as much from Amazon as some do. My biggest gripe with Amazon Prime is that most of their streaming video content that I want to watch, is PPV above and beyond the Prime subscription cost. I can understand PPV for stuff that's just out of the theaters, but a lot of what I want to watch is 10+ years old for pete's sake. Really?! I'm seriously thinking about giving Hulu another shot and dropping Amazon.

I don't even mind that so much. What really grinds me is what they charge. $4-$6 for an HD rental I can rent on Blu-ray for $2-$3 at the local video store? I don't think so.

I'm in the same camp as Gustofer and PHPaul on this. I've never ordered anything that was life or death important if the item is a day late. Can I save a couple of bucks buying somewhere else at times? Sure. It boils down to convenience and the avoidance of having to go to a mortar and brick store and putting up with the crowds.

That, and I use Amazon Music and Prime Video a lot plus their free cloud storage is a biggy for me.

$99 is a hell of a deal for all of that.

Jim
