I've been suffering from a bitten lip for about two weeks. Of course, it swells up and becomes easier to bite down on again, so it just perpetuates the pain. I eat so slowly and deliberately these days.

I once bit my lip so bad and got into that vicious cycle of re-biting that I actually switched to soft foods with a spoon for a couple days; yogurt, soup, pudding etc. Nothing I had to operate my jaws with in a chewing motion.

In the middle of that right now. Mad Mad
Started two or three days ago, inside lower lip, right of center. Just got back from Chick-Fil-A, must have bit it ten times or more, working hard not to. Jeez...

Whenever this happens to me I consider it further proof that the human mouth is one big design flaw.

Think of putting a couple raw steaks just next to the blades of a blender.
What are the odds over time?

On a different note, I find that some people do not know when to bite their lip.

My lips are rarely the victim in my case. I go for the inside of the cheek. Ouch.

I'll bet you look pretty cute when biting your lip. Do you go for the sad or pouty look?

It's in infrequent but when it happens, it's a pain to stop. I do it on the lip or the inside cheek.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Yep, those hurt as will the side of the tongue. These little misques then seem to swell a little in size and thus exponentially increase the opportunity for another meeting with the teeth.

Just don't think about your tongue while you eat and how close it is to your teeth or you'll be biting it all day
