This has been my go-to posture for computing for nearly 20 years. Also for streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime all Winter for several years. Has to stop.

Went to my first PT session for neck issues this morning. Thankfully the problem is muscular, not spinal and should be mostly correctable via exercise and better posture.

According to the therapist, when standing erect, your ear canal should pretty much line up with your shoulder. Mine is 4+ inches forward of that in a "hunchback" position. She asked particularly about how much time I spend in front of a computer (far too much) and when I described my favorite reading position (propped up against the headboard in bed, chin on chest, book/kindle on belly) she actually cringed.

So one specific exercise to start, plus strict attention to posture. I have to remind myself about every 5 minutes to keep my feet on the floor and sit up straight.

It's like being in Mrs. Patterson's 5th grade class again, except the chair is softer.

(That picture is somewhere around 20 years old...14" CRT monitor with glare screen, probably a 386 computer)

Cool!

Actually, I suffer from too much computer, also. I refer to the way I sit in front of it as "The Lizard Position."

Well, go on and share that specific exercise with the rest of us! I lie on my bed with the same propped head-on-headboard, computer on gut position as you every night.

Stand or sit with spine straight, shoulders square.

Keep chin level, move your head/neck as far back as you can, hold for a second, relax. 10 reps, 6x per day.

My major (new) symptom was moderate discomfort when tilting my head back to look up. Noticed immediately that if I straighten my neck first, I can tilt my head back without issue.

Basically stretching muscles in neck.

I've had rotational range issues for years, particularly looking over my right shoulder. Therapist says once we get the vertical alignment corrected as much as possible, we'll work on rotation...also muscle related.

I’ll highly recommend a hot tub and a couple young nubile blonde Swedish stewardesses. They’ll work the knots and kinks right out.

Any idea where you got that chair?

It is just like this one.

I bought a bunch of those chairs for the office. I found them so comfortable I had one at home, and when I hurt my back, it was the only thing I could sit on in anything close to comfort.

I’d buy another one if I could find one.

Any ideas, hints, leads?

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Wow...I dunno. That's an OLD picture and that chair was retired many moons ago. I have a bigger, heavier-duty version of it and damned if I recall where I got it either. Vaguely recall ordering it online somewhere, possibly Amazon.

Big and Tall Office Chairs On Amazon

Yup, pretty sure my current chair is from Amazon. Very similar to the one at the link. It's been a peach.
