WTF? Six US batters got hit by People's Republic of China pitchers - before a single Chinese pitcher got ejected. Our guys only ran over a couple of catchers (OK, so that included one hyperextended knee injury, but still). The last bean looked deliberate as hell to me.

I'd be amazed that the US bench didn't clear if the US didn't have so much more to lose than the PRC team. I am amazed that with twelve pitchers on the 24-man roster, the US hasn't sent out a pitcher who's good enough, and subtle enough, to plant a pitch on a PRC batter hard enough to make the point that no one deliberately hits a US player in the head with a pitch without seriously painful consequences.

The sixth guy that got hit was deliberate, no question. The five before that... well... I thought the pitchers for PRC just sucked. They had no command whatsoever, I doubt they really meant to hit 4 of them, 1 (the fifth hit) could have gone either way.

The last guy that got hit was ridiculous, but the PRC team seems to have a number of douchebags on it. I was laughing my ass off when the one guy hit a single HR in the bottom of the ninth to score their only run. The guy ran around the bases pointing to into the air (at least he could count), and then stomped on homeplate and everyone came out and hugged him. YEAH! We're only down by 8 now!! Idiots.

The Chinese government TV station will show it as the highlight of team China's drubbing of the round-eyes.

Interspersed with pictures of Laporte holding his head and being helped of the field - in agony and shame at the gross inferiority of Americans to the PRC supermen.

The idiot who hit the homerun for china, running around channeling Kirk Gibson, would have pissed me off to no end. It would have brought about the subsequent beaning of the next batter and maybe the poor sucker after that.

Were I an umpire I'd have ejected his sorry ass for unsportsman like conduct.

They need to learn how to play baseball first off....Quit bein pussies and play. Getting hit, as a catcher is sometimes part of the game...getting even as a pitcher...well, whatever.

Does anyone know if Taiwan is supposed to play the PRC in the future? They're giving the US a good game - it would be fun to watch them spank the Red Twinkies.

While I've only watched maybe 10% of the televised Olympics thus far, I have noticed a certain (and sometimes severe) lack of sportsman-like conduct from many of the Chinese athletes. Maybe I’m just catching the bad eggs. I did however think that the PRC diving teams I've seen DID exhibit a great deal of class. Actually acknowledging and congratulating fellow competitors, regardless of win/loss. The bulk of everything else I’ve watched with PRC.... not so much.

I'm pissed Blue didn't toss the pitcher immediately after hitting the batter in head. A Braves pitcher was thrown out of a game the other day for just throwing at a batter upstairs - he didn't even hit the batter.

Yeah, what you're saying about the bad eggs rings true from what I've seen. Can't tell if it's a sense of entitlement, a chip on the shoulder, or if the secret police is simply holding the athletes' families at pistol point - "you vill vin or your granny gets it!"

i'm no fan of the chinese athletes, either… and much of the olympics is a farce [esp. being in beijing]. but our guys can have bad attitudes, too. look at many professional athletes in the US.

that being said, we have some real class acts on our team for the most part. don't really care abt. the olympics/IOC in general, but i really like seeing our athletes doing well.

i guess the best smack-talk is simply winning. Smile

What does that mean?

And who was the pitcher?
