I have been with DTV for a few years now and pretty happy but since the AT&T merger it seems everything is an up sell attempt but this weekend beat all!

I had been having an issue with my TV picture getting pixelated from time to time and audio drop out. After doing the obvious and calling tech support a service appt was set for Saturday.

Tech arrived on time and they proceeded to do virtually nothing except what I had already done then tell me it is a DTV software issue on their end, nothing he can do to fix it. Then I hear him on the phone telling someone to hurry because he wont be at my home much longer...He realized I overheard and explained to me that a "specialist" was coming to show mw how to use my DTV and show me some other home products they now offer. I told the tech in a nice way but firmly that I do not want the "specialist" to come, that I was not in the mood for a sales pitch and on that note, please fix what i am already paying for before you try to sell me additional services. He very sheepishly called the guy back and said not to come that he was leaving and I had someplace to go then explained when he hung up that if he did not say that the guy would have shown up anyway.

I called be bitched today but doubt it will go anywhere

How 'bout you let the specialist come to your location, show her / him the problem, and state that you will be pleased to listen to the sales pitch AFTER they get the service that you are currently paying for, working the way it should work.

Dump DTV. I after nearly a decade and am very glad about it. The shit you experienced doesn’t stop. I still get their junk mail pleading for my return years later. I went with internet based TV.

Yep agreed! I went with DirecTv Now through my Amazon Fire box. Been very pleased. Buffers now and again but not enough to be annoying really. Plus they keep adding more channels at no additional cost. Just got a email from them yesterday asking if i would be interested in a new beta program they are looking at launching in the near future for cloud dvr and some other features.
Waiting to hear back from them to see if I've been selected to be a beta tester.

I was having the same problem with Spectrum cable and also a complete freeze up and a re-boot of the box will help mine as a usual thing.

I tryed the DirectvNow but was unable to receive locals. My son in SLC has it and gets all the locals.

These subscription services simply Never Give Up.

My wife is an AARP member. (I refuse.) They keep spamming our snail mail box with encouragement to buy their supplemental Medicare packages. No. What we have is the same coverage for less cost.

Comcast simply will not take "No" for an answer. They keep trying to talk us into their VoIP services (never known anybody to have Comcast Voice where it did not suck) and to add subscription TV to our Business Internet package. Do Not Want.

We just got her a new-to-her 2014 Equinox. Both OnStar and SiriusXM are pestering her relentlessly.

That latter, SiriusXM, went a step further, with me. They started-up my 90-day free trial, for my new-to-me Jeep, without me even registering. So I went ahead and registered, but I'll not be buying. (I will, however, renew SiriusXM NavTraffic when the trial is up, because it's economical and it r0x0rz.) I wouldn't mind an SXM sub for, say, $5/mo. But $10 or $15? I don't think so, Tim.

ATT does this unless you tell them upfront to stop it. EVERY time I would call them to assist with my internet, they'd say "It appears that you can upgrade to Super-Mega-Insane speed internet, and THAT will fix your issues."

I'd tell them that I do NOT want the Super-Mega-Insane package, I am happy with the Average-Old-Man speed. Needless to say, I told them to make an annotation in my account that says "Homeowner is not, nor ever will be seeking to improve/upgrade the current internet account."
