My big kid also asked to come live with me at age 13....we sat down, explained all the complexities annnnnd that his mother would lose her shit and begin an all out war - she was dependent upon the child support. I let he kid know everything.

I even filed papers in her county to begin the process. Everything I told him would happen, and it began....eventually he gave in and she basically bribed him with new furniture and other items.

The day he turned 18, we went and picked him up from high school and moved him in with us. He had been regretting it since he was about 16.

The last time I talked to her was that birthday....also ceased child support. He enrolled in school where I lived-got his diploma and hasn’t talked to her since then either. Ten years now. He’s better off w/o her drama and he knows it.
