I'll bite. How did your Yelp reviews got used against you in 2014?

I wrote a review against a restaurant on my cross country drive. In short, I said the staff was very friendly and nice but the food they serve did not certainly taste like Mexican food like their name says.

The restaurant responded to my review. "We're glad you found the staff friendly but we are not a Mexican restaurant. We serve "New Mexican" food. It was in New Mexico. Ooops.

You gotta love the game “I got a secret”.

Are you worried about legal ramifications or is it just a shitty story? You brought it up but now you want it kept a secret? Wtf

And no, please don’t send me an email. Share the story or don’t. The suspense isn’t killing me.

So after some extensive research and a 60 minute round trip these appeared in my kitchen today. Aroma wise think Lipton Onion Soup. Taste excellent, texture slightly different than a bagel. I called ahead to ask about bialys ,their website/yelp reviews noted they made 'em on weekends. Fresh batch placed in the oven when I called in my order, and ready to pick up 30 minutes later. Sadly no dine in/and a line to get in and I drove home and ,now on my second one as I type this.

Looks great! Where did you find them? A chain / franchise? Or a local mom & pop bagel bakery?

This thread started me wanting to try some bialys too.

After a quick google search, I may have hit the jackpot. Not too far from me is the Original Bagel & Bialy deli.

It's almost time for lunch, so I'll be leaving you all now. Wink

No legal ramifications, I'm just not going to step in V's thread with my own story.
I had actually kinda forgot about all of it until I saw this thread.

Where did I say "I got a secret" as you put it? Did I say it's an interesting story? 2 members asked me about it and I sent them an email. Same as V asking Mars about his 1 star reviews.
Somehow your panties got in a bunch over a post and as you said, "share it or don't". I did share it with those that asked.

You quoted me in your post. From the context of what you said, I'm pretty sure that you really intended to quote pedropcola.

joatmonv,

Please send me an e-mail with your story. While I have tapered down significantly with my Yelp reviews, I used to write on there quite often. Wrote one about a local Smash Burger and the manager messaged me and asked me to come back and have a meal on them. It was so bland that I declined, nothing against him.

Just can't trust Google reviews, too many of them are 5 stars. Can't afford to just go out and try places to find out for myself so I read Yelp to see what's going on. Instead of looking just at the rating, I read the comments. If someone is giving it 2 stars because the AC is too cold but the food is good, then I take that into consideration.

Two of my reviews went to arbitration with Yelp and I won both.

So I went and jammed the reviews on Google.

The objected to the photos I took in the establishments.

Bagels 4 U in Short Hills, NJ makes great bagels and Bialy’s.

Now I want to read your reviews. Some evil part of me occasionally craves to read a well written scathing review.

Nice review, V-Tail. I have to admit, if it's well-worded and humorous, there's something satisfying about reading an absolutely smoldering negative review.

If it's not a bother, I would also like to know what happened. I had an irate business owner threaten to sue me over what he claimed was a falsified review, so it's relevant to my interests. Unfortunately, this was during a period when I wasn't using Yelp at all, and my review got nuked somehow before I ever saw the business owner's message. He also never responded to my posting a screenshot of his threat on his Yelp page....
