I monitor a couple of the web cams along the Western basin of Lake Erie, one of which is the Huron Pier and River. I do not know if people who walk the pier are aware there is a live cam there.

This morning, there was a large Coast Guard boat pushing a barge with a crane on it, so I decided to watch it.

Along comes a lady, walking 2 small Dogs along the pier. Nothing unusual, there are hundreds of people who walk the pier every day. Hell, if I was there, I would walk the pier, it looks pretty cool.

One of her Dogs makes a deposit along the walkway. Hey, I have Dogs I get it, they don't always poop where you want them to.

She picked it up with a plastic bag, at which point, I am thinking, good for her, she is not one of those who just leaves the deposit for others to walk in. From the angle of the camera, there was no one in front of her, who could see her Dog poop. She then proceeds to drop the bag along the interior of the walkway, in between bricks that line the edge of the walkway. Now I am angry. WTF lady? You give responsible Dog owners a bad name.

Oh well.

A few minutes later I pull up the cam, to see what the Coast Guard boat is doing. Much to my surprise, I see the lady returning from her walk down the pier with her 2 Dogs.

She stops and picks up the bag of poop and takes it with her.

Kudos to her for being a responsible Dog owner.

Thanks for that.

Yep you never know. When walking my dog on a wooded trail I will often do the same thing if she goes right at the beginning so I don't have to carry it with me the whole time. Pick it up on the way back out. Of course someone seeing it there wouldn't necessarily know my intentions.

Yesterday, I saw a car driving on a road with a doggy bag sticking out of a closed rear window. I assumed there were no garbage cans in the area they were walking their dog and brought it home with them, though they didn’t want it in the car. Pretty ingenious transportation method.

I had to reread your article. The term is what we used for bringing restaurant leftovers home for the dog.

That struck me as funny and something I would do. I use to go to department stores, walk around, and pretend I swiped something.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Somewhat different, but similar. My Father once told me as maybe a 6 or 7 year old... "Honesty is what you ultimately do, when no one is watching".

That has stuck with me for 60+ years.

A similar story but baby poop. While I was on the HP job I once passed a lady in a rest stop changing her kids diaper on the trunk of her Mercedes. I passed, then got alerted to something which required me to pass that rest stop again. As I go by, theres that shitty diaper on the ground exactly where she was parked.

I turn around, grab the diaper and zoom down the road. In a few miles I see the Mercedes and stop her. I approach the car and hand her the diaper. With as stern a face and demeanor as I could muster I told her... "Here. You forgot this".

She looked at me with a beaten expression and placed it on the passenger side floor. I then followed her at a discreet distance to see if she would toss it out. She didn't.

I do this as well. I usually drop a GPS pin so I won't forget where I dropped it.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Not what I expected.. good for her....there is someone in our neighborhood who bags the poop and then leaves it in the road.... I don't get that.

I also use the app FindShip to locate and track ships all over. It’s cool to be at the river or the lake and know what the name of the ship is and how fast it’s moving or if there is even a ship nearby or if one is about to come around the bend.
