The bad news is that what you saw quoted was the maximium permissible sentence. These clowns won't get anything near that. Because its so "serious", the magistrate or sentencing judge will give them some time. Probably a few months if its their first offense. The GF with the BMer won't even get any time at all. Its how our system works.

If that's the case you may as well let a "well meaning" citizen on the street deliver your gun on his word. Now I'm extra glad I got my 228 back from the mother ship via Fed Ex.

Sounds like those jokers were hit with Zone 3 sentencing guidelines in the Federal Sentencing book. Its not up to the judge but there are set guidelines.
