So, shipping them over night doesn't keep their thieving employees from taking handguns. Hummmm...

""It appears to be an isolated issue. We have very tight security procedures in place. We don't tolerate any type of illegal activity in our company," McCluskey said."

Wow, so it is isolated even though it has been happening since OCTOBER? How the hell did they not catch him sooner? How many other guns did he steal that they still do not know about?

"Police found a green army bag in the vehicle with eight Bersa .380-caliber handguns ..."

Well, my guess is those guns would have ended up in the projects anyways.... I should not have said that...... some may have ended up in the garbage.

That's a lot of guns to lose. How on earth did they get them out of the facility---twice? I hope Fedex fixes things but doesn't stop shipping guns like DHL.

I'm wondering what the situation was between the receiver and FedEx.

Receiver: "My shipment of 70 guns never arrived."
FedEx: "We'll look into that."

I was reading the comments and I had to stop after the second one below.

The NRA lobbying group is one of reasons so many weapons are on the streets in the hands of felons and soon to be felons. Most honest gun owners are not the problem. However, thousands of clean (no felony record) people are buying or stealing weapons to sell on the street.

If the gun didn't exist to begin with...we wouldn't have to worry about people being shot...eh?

Will one less box of ammo, this month, kill you?
No, but the money could save a child's life...

Oddly enough we just went through that with a customers Bushmaster & Fed Ex . . . . .

Fed-Ex is not the only one. We have had empty boxes show up via UPS. We had 3 Walther P22's that were removed from their boxes and the boxes were still delivered to us.

You would be surprised at how common an occurrence this is. Sadly, you'd probably also be surprised to find out that this number of weapons isn't even THAT noteworthy.

Jersey City does have white males in its population. But they are the stock brokers living in the million dollar condos along the riverfront. The city runs the spectrum from the top to the bottom of the income ladder. And a convicted drunk as a Mayor. Ya gotta love that city...

Strangely enough, we had one of the largest UPS hubs in the country in our town. They had a very good record with firearms.

Apparently you can just walk into the Fedex facility and carry out boxes at will without question. Damn!

I had a crazy situation with Fedex a few years ago. I sold a nice film camera to this guy on ebay who lived in Chicago. It was like $1200 used...so it was a pretty decent size purchase. Anyhow, Fedex lost the camera in transit and took like a week + to tell me nothing. The buyer is stressing like mad. Of course, I have his money but he/Fedex has the goods. It was sort of unique in that he required Fedex service...it wasn't my choice.

So turns out that after several calls with the guy (even while I was traveling out of state on business) we agree to give it a few days. He's still mad, mind you, but last thing I was doing was refunding the money before I even found the camera.

Turns out the shipment never got to him in Chicago. However, in some Fedex twist of fate, the box goes to an office I used to work at in Oak Brook (a suburb). Here's how... Fedex lost the original bill of lading on the outside of the package. They found the package in St. Louis about 10 days after it was shipped from KC. I had reused the same box the camera had come to me in, from when I bought it years prior. The box had the original shipping docs taped inside it. Without contacting anyone they proceeded to send my camera to my old office. This is a company I worked for....not "my" office.

The package gets to my old office un-announced. So as luck has it, the reception lady who worked there remembered me and that I got a job transfer out of state. She calls up and say's "hey big e, we have a camera here for you in the office is that right?" I'm like WTF but obviously realize why it happened pretty quickly. I had shipped the camera to the office when I originally bought it.

Long story I know. Anyhow, got the camera back and resent it to the guy. Eventually it all worked out. To this day though....I believe had that packing list not been on the inside of the box, the camera would be gone.

I haven't had a lot of faith in Fedex since then.

Now anytime I ship anything of value I put a shipping confirmation in the box.

I couldn't agree more. Hard to believe that is the maximum sentence on Federal charges. These guys should go away a lot longer than that and should also faces charges for murder if any of these guns show up at a murder scene.

The bad news is that what you saw quoted was the maximium permissible sentence. These clowns won't get anything near that. Because its so "serious", the magistrate or sentencing judge will give them some time. Probably a few months if its their first offense. The GF with the BMer won't even get any time at all. Its how our system works.
