Google Backup And Sync Doesn't Work Well With iPhotos And Aperture Libraries

I am probably not far behind you. I fought the same whack-a-dup battle with Chrome bookmarks across platforms and bookmark synchronizers. Google is Zuckerfucker's evil twin in terms of privacy.
All of Google's software and hardware offerings are freaking science experiments. I got the Nexus 5X bootloop courtesy of LG. I literally threw Google's mesh wifi routers out the window when they accidentally reset all active routers with an authentication glitch *THE DAY AFTER* I found their router wifi pause barely works. Google WiFi doesn't seem to stop non-HTTP traffic like Steam games (UDP? TCP?). My ADHD son stayed up until 4 AM playing a Steam game on a school night. Only a complete network stop can break the reward cycle in his head.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

What's the downside of letting Google Photo just keep your duplicates unless you didn't opt for the unlimited free photo option?
I think it's even cute how it comes up with animations and photo books.

The downside is scrolling through four copies of every photo while you are trying to select one to show your friend.

Okay, you actually use the Google photo portion. I use google drive actually but as a separate hard drive. I let Google back up my photos but it's like a repository if I happen to lose every other set of photos and back up sets.

IPhotos and Aperture are no longer supported by Apple. Maybe need to update your software?

And think about using something else besides what Apple offers as an upgrade to iPhoto, namely "Photos". It synchronizes well across all Apple devices, but I understand (have not been brave enough to try it), that it can easily make a mess of your photo library.
From the git go, I have used non-Apple photo processing software (Lightroom, GraphicConverter, PixelMator, and now PixelMator Pro is available). I keep my photos organized in my own folder structure on my desktop, and use the iOS app PM Pro to keep photos on the phone. It syncs through iTunes, and I select only the folders I want to be on the phone to sync. PM Pro does a wonderful job of displaying the photos, and I think it has more advanced capabilities that I have never explored (like editing).
