I hate taking medication. I do my best to just push on without it.
Though sometimes the sinus pressure just becomes unbearable and feel like my face and head are going to explode.
This generally comes in the evening. So I take a Claritin D. Well the last two times I have taken it before bed no sleep for this guy. The head pressure is gone but just can’t sleep and just keep flopping side to side.

Been up all night and have to start getting ready for work in 40 minutes. Yippy!

Claritin d is a combination of a antihistamine that doesn’t cause much drowsyness and a decongestant that is also a stimulant. You might try Claritin and a nasal spray if you need something close to bedtime.

Another possibility is ibuprofen and a Benadryl.

Definitely look into a non-stimulant product, if taking it before bed.

Something like chlorpheniramine, used in Coricidin, or diphenhydramine, used in Benadryl.

I hate taking medication too. I’m on day 4 of a hives outbreak and I’m taking heavy doses of Allegra and Zyrtec right now. Zyrtec makes me sleepy.

Try Xyzal if taking it before going to bed. Use to be prescription only but is now available over the counter. I get shots for my allergies now, but my allergy doctor said it is best to rotate the meds so you don't become use to them. Use 1 brand for about a week, then the next week use a different med. also get an air purifier for your bedroom. That helped me immediately. I even lug it along with me when I travel.

First of all I am thankful the meds I need even exist...

Second, if sinus problems are the main issue I would suggest Flonase. Give it a chance to work, a month or so at least. Yes every day. It has been a life changing thing for me.

Correct me if I am wrong but at least at the moment the only symptom I have is the pressure in my face around the nose and side of the face by my ears and jaw.

Nose is not congested at all no breathing trouble at the moment. This something the Flonase will help with?

Sorry for the late reply...
Flonase blocks allergic reactions proactively, basically preventing symptoms.

see here
https://www.flonase.com/allerg...gQodaXYHTA&gclsrc=ds

It's OTC and not very expensive. Generic (fluticasone) is OK. I get the Equate brand, pump mister / applicator, usually at Walgreens or Walmart.

My Dr prescribed it for me years ago when it was prescription only. I had nearly debilitating sinus problems until I started Flonase. Dosage was "One or two sprays, once or twice a day. I do two sprays per nostril once a day 365 days a year. For me it has been a life saver. YMMV

If your problem is seasonal you just take as required, say only in spring etc, but it may take two weeks or more to build up effectiveness... it is proactive... not applied to alleviate current symptoms on demand.

If you suspect your symptoms are possibly allergic in nature you should try it.

I suggest using nettipot also with the other recommendations.

It's plain distilled water warmed a bit in the microwave for 20 seconds and saline mix of salt and baking soda. It flushes out the allergens.

I would say do it also during the night before your sinuses swell up from the allergens.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Be aware that some Sinus/cold/allergy medications sold over the counter can spike your blood pressure.

Started the Flonase a few days ago. Hopefully it can knock out the pressure.
It has lessened but still there.

Flonase and other steroids need some time for the body to react to them.

I use one Zyrtec a day and have been for years due to allergy symptoms of congestion.

Since it does not cross the brain barrier, no issues with groggy, jitters or anything.
