I have long been an adamant supporter of butting the brakes on wholesale issuing of these visas.

You have given me yet another reason to support putting strong controls on them.

I don't think you could fine two parts of the country that are any different! I've lived down south and spent a ton of time in Seattle, so I am qualified to say this.

I was thinking of this thread today on the way home on I5N out of Tacoma. Specifically, "left lane Sallies." I was in the second to left lane, there was no car ahead of me for at least a hundred yards, maybe more. The left lane was packed with trucks and utility vehicles all spaced about four lengths apart, all doing under sixty.

Yeah, if you're not passing on the right, you're not getting anywhere around here.

Not to offend but through my eyes it's a dump. Born and raised there but moved away 37 years ago. The locals may not notice, but like a lobster brought to a slow boil they don't note the changes. Seattle and its environs are now populated with a tremendous over abundance of self-absorbed myopic individuals viewing the local region as some sort of later day City on the Hill; it's absurd.

I was stationed in Oak Harbor for 3 years. Loved it there (other than Tulip season), but hated even going near Seattle.

The locals DO notice but there is darn little to be done. The newbs, the bonus babies at Amazon and google think an American economy can indeed run on bicycles; groceries for a family of one can be put in your back pack, your first child and his first ear infection is 12 years away, you have been raised in an 'environment' that professes that cars are bad, bike lanes are good, everyone wants the same thing, but nobody mentioned that the 'thing' is your cash for their meth, and on and on.

So when a crazed nut-bag socialist runs for city council against an ordinary socialist the nut-bag wins beause she will 'effect change'.

Yes indeed, the locals notice and while the population of Seattle and King Country has a good bit of growth the growth of the population with that number that has been there for more that 15 years is drastically reduced. So yeah, come on up to the emerald city for the quality of life, then bring your meth, your needles, your 5 dollar handouts to professional beggers and then be surprised when you turn 30 and "gosh Seattle has changed so much'.

p.s. 5 shootings from Thursday to Saturday. I haven't watched the N(othing)E(nteresting)W(orth)S(eeing) today.

Imagine that, in Seattle.

Millions of gallons of sewage spill into Puget Sound Somebody above said 'maybe it's in the water' Well there is something in the water. the link is from Feb, but this ois still going on with thousands of gallons spilling. Beaches are closed, fishing is closed in many area, crabbing is closed in many area. You know the good part, Dept. of the Environment is strangely quiet except for the sound of their pearls bumping together as they clutvh madly at their chests.

The emerald city indeed. Once a shining star now it can't keep its shit in one tank.

Oh and yeah, traffic is bad.

I enjoy trips to the PacNW, so I always take those jobs. But I've done the downtown area enough (when I am able to bring a CCW) and now if I have time I just escape to the coast or one of the National Parks. Beautiful state but Seattle hold no allure for me. I even considered flying into Portland last time and driving up, but the flights in there were considerably more $$$, so maybe next time.

But the Urban cesspool is expanding (as it often does when not kept in check). Pity, but that's just they way it is, apparently.

Truly wonderful news out of tacoma this week.

The city has declared a state of emergency, due to the homeless problem.

The homeless count, or so I have been led to believe, is some 1500 homeless individuals, encamped under I-5, in tents, in abandoned buildings, hanging out in rusted, undriveable RV's.

The piles of debris, garbage, drug paraphernalia and human waste.

The other problem not really covered in depth or discussed, is the drug territories now being enforced by the gangs that have 'sprung' into being. Gee, imagine that.

Tacoma declares homeless state of emergency

http://www.king5.com/news/loca...-emergency/438385495

The Tacoma City Council declared a state of public health emergency Tuesday night relating to homeless camp conditions.

The state of emergency ordinance will let Tacoma suspend some regulations in order to implement the Emergency Temporary Aid and Shelter Program Plan.

The plan aims to mitigate the impacts on homelessness on Tacoma residents, connect the homeless with social and health services, and establish more short-term transitional housing options.

Tacoma allocated $9 million towards homelessness services this fiscal year, a 48 percent increase over last year.

The city council said the conditions at Tacoma’s more than 50 homeless encampments “pose safety and health concerns” for campers, including exposure to human waste, disease, violence, and other public health concerns.

The ordinance comes less than a month after Tacoma and state transportation officials swept the “Tacoma Jungle,” city’s largest encampment under the Interstate 5/Interstate 705 corridor.

We just did a road trip of Boise, Reno, Bend, looking for places to move in the next 6-8 years.
My pet peeve is the people who think the proper way to merge is to run all the way to the end of the ramp, stop, and wait for someone to let them in. I'll cruise along next to an onramp, with enough room between me and the car ahead for a car to merge right in, but the mergers blow past the opening, get to the end of the ramp and brake.
I was behind a guy yesterday, in an exit-only lane, and because there were not as many cars exiting as continuing on, the guy moves right, passes a bunch of cars while in the exit lane, then, surprise, puts on his brakes and his signal, so one of the cars he had just past can let him back in before he has to exit.
I suspect that he thinks he "won" because he's six car lengths closer to his destination.

The PROBLEM with "helping" the homeless, is that 9 out of 10 homeless people do not want to have a roof over their heads. They're either completely crazy or prefer being drunk or stoned over living a normal decent life.

I work in downtown Tacoma. After LOTS of direct and indirect interaction with the homeless, I have zero fucking sympathy. The crackwhore who hooks out of the pickup out back pissed on my car last week and coworker got a video of it. I've given food to that bitch. That's just one minor incident and I've got loads of those kinds of stories. Zero. Fucking. Sympathy.
