I recently bought a well used 870 wingmaster. I am going to send it to CCR for a refinish job.
The stock has the glossy finish. It is in good shape but I was wondering if there is a product that will shine it up without hurting the gloss finish? Also it has a white bead at the muzzle that I am not real impressed with. What brand of fiber optic do you guys recomend? I was thinking red or green? Anyone know the stock thread size for a 870? Take a look in Brownells website. I can't remember the actual product (didn't pay that much attention since I hate glossy stocks) but they have an extra, extra fine rubbing compound that should do the trick. It's like car rubbing compound only much finer. You rub it on with felt pads (also at Brownells) and some mineral oil.
You might check over at www.shotgunworld.com, but I believe that all the Rems with screw-in beads have a 6-48 thread. I really like the HiViz Compsight that came on my Browning 525 Sporting. It has a metal base screw-on with interchangeable light pipes. Comes with a small cannister of several light pipes in different colors and diameter ends. I'm partial to the orange one myself. |
